Chapter Text
Since they were little Candy and Caleb had decided they were going to live together, this plan fully came into effect once they were in their freshman year of college, the two of them diligently planning to go to the same one despite having two different career paths. Still, it worked out for them. Eventually when they met Jake and the three of them started to date they wanted him to move in. He always rejected the idea.

“Mis cielos…” Jake frowned as he laid head on Caleb’s shoulder, nuzzling his nose close to the edge of Caleb’s jaw. Candy laid himself out on the love seat across from the couch they sat on, his phone was abandoned on his chest to express his delved interest in their conversation. “Marc and Steven don’t take well to changes like these,” Caleb huffs and turns his head away from Jake’s ongoing attempt to comfort.
“They can live with it, what about us?” Caleb barks back.
Jake winces at Caleb’s reply, his body contorts inward and he looks like a defeated puppy, though he doesn’t dare to remove himself from Caleb’s body. They’ve had the conversation of moving in before, every time Jake had shut down the idea Caleb had often accepted without fight. The more the conversation occurs the more upset he gets.
Candy sits himself upright, his face is scrunched with a disturbed confusion. “Caleb it’s not his life only,” There’s some fight back in the way Caleb’s face shifts to Candy’s comment, yet he chooses not to speak. “I would love, and I mean love, if Jake could live with us. But Marc and Steven are with Layla, in most situations it’s two to one.”
Jake kisses Caleb’s shoulder in remorse while looking at Candy with a soft sadness. “So she just gets to have her husband’s and I don’t get my boyfriend, it doesn’t feel fair…” Jake squeezes Caleb’s hand until he looks at him, a discomforting tension spreads through the air. It’s clear that Caleb harbors no anger towards Jake or his situation, he’s just saddened by the results.
“Mi corazon,” Jake speaks in a soft whisper, “I love you, okay? I just don’t want to cause anymore problems between Steven, Marc, and I.” Jake presses his free hand to Caleb’s face rubbing his thumb softly across his cheek. Caleb embraces the gentle touch and moves his face closer to the warmth of Jake’s hand.
The arguments between the three never last long. Each of them having the quality to balance out each other’s emotions. “We okay now?” Candy’s voice peeps over the loving embrace of the two boys gaining him two nods. He settles himself back in his previous position and continues his mindless scroll on his phone, the incoherence of different voices and music passing by in second long increments settle a comforting ending to the lovers tensions.
