The Assassins Struggle

Summary:

THE SEQUEL IS OUT NOW!!! It's called The Kronos Curse!!! Go read it once you finish this!! :)

Damian Wayne, the son of Batman and heir to the Demon Head, has a problem. Well, two, really. Both of them are magic related. One is connected to the beautiful, raven-haired, purple-eyed, half-demoness, Raven. The other is connected to the Egyptian god of death, Anubis, and the fact that he is currently 'possessed' by him. But he'll soon find he has a much more major problem.

Alaina Keller, or Alnamir, has never had a normal life. Ever since she was born she was a member of the League of Assasins. When her mother died when she was 2, she was taken care of by Talia Al Ghul. She became the best assassin they had before she was even 16. She's always had a purpose but now that she's been freed by her brother, Damian, she doesn't know her purpose. But a certain Superboy might help with that.

I ONLY OWN TIA KELLER AND ALAINA KELLER AND ASTRID, and other OCs that might be in here!! ALL THE REST BELONG TO DC EXCEPT FOR ANUBIS. He's just from history, I guess. I do own the plo,t though. :)
The Anubis Idea technically belongs to @Bats_1213 from her book A Pain Most Wonderful, which is wonderful. (Hehe, get it?)

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Dick sighed as he put his phone down. He had just gotten off the phone with his dad who had a new mission for him and his little brother. A mission that was supposed to last 3 months.

Dick left to go find Damian.

When he finally found him he was on the roof with Raven. Both of them were laughing and Damian was holding a hand out so Raven wouldn't fall off the edge. Dick stopped and leaned against the doorframe as he watched his little brother.

Damian had gotten much better since living with the Titans. He first arrived when he was 13 and was extremely closed off, at least until he started talking to Raven Roth, Trigon's daughter. They soon became best friends and Raven helped Damian not be so distant. Jon Kent, Superman's son joined the Titans at 13 when Damian was 14 and they immediately hit it off, helping Damian more. It was nice for Dick to see his youngest brother so happy. The only problem was that Damian refused to see his father. He hadn't seen him since he joined the Titans and had barely talked to him, and every time they did, they usually ended up fighting.

Damian was 15 now and wouldn't be too thrilled about leaving for a long mission, but after a very long call with Bruce that had ended in a lot of yelling, Damian could probably use a break. And this was the first time Dick had seen him smile all week.

"Damian!" Dick shouted. Damian and Raven looked up as their laughter died down.

"Yes, Grayson?" Damian asked.

"We have a new mission! Can you come with me so I can brief you on it?" Damian looked at Raven before nodding and standing up. He followed Dick down the hall. Dick kept glancing at Damian as they walked. Damian had grown to be about the same height as Dick, so it was kind of hard to avoid eye contact without making it obvious. Or just watching him.

Damian stopped walking and Dick turned to see why.

"What are you doing?" Damian asked with one raised eyebrow.

"Nothing." Damian scoffed.

"Please. You're acting incredibly nervous. Why? What is this mission?" Dick gulped before telling him.

"We're going after the League of Assasins." Damian frowned.

"The League of Assasins was disbanded when Slade killed my grandfather."

"One of the members restarted it. Dad wants us to go after their best assassin. He's hoping if we take her we can easily destroy the League." Damian nodded.

"How long will we be gone?"

"Three months. We leave tomorrow." Damian looked down but nodded.

"Okay. What's the name of the assassin?"

"Apparently they call her Alnamir." Damian looked up, his face suddenly pale.

"Alaina?" He whispered.

"No, Alnamir." Damian glared at him.

"Her real name is Alaina Keller."

"You know her?!" Damian nodded.

"She's my sister." Dicks eyes widened. "Not my real sister! She was born into the League 5 months after me. Her mother died when she was 2. My mother took care of her. We were raised together. Alnamir means The Tiger in Arabic. When we were 5 we were supposed to fight a tiger. Alaina and the tiger fell into the Lazarus Pit. The tiger hit its head and died so the Pit combined its DNA with Alaina which gave her the ability to shift into a tiger. She was always a good fighter, so I'm not surprised she's their best."

"Well then. Do you think you're a better fighter than her? Because that's one of the reasons you're going. That and you know the League."

"I think so. I haven't seen her since my grandfather was killed, but I always beat her in combat. Is anyone else coming?"

"Nope. Just us." Damian nodded and headed to his room to pack.

When he got there, Raven was already there, sitting on his bed reading a book.

"And what are you doing in here?" Damian asked with a smirk. Raven looked up at him and smiled.

"Waiting for you. What's the mission about?"

"We are going to try and destroy the League of Assasins. Again." Damian said as he pulled his suitcase out from under his bed.

"They're back?!"

"Yep. But we can take care of it."

"How long will you be gone?" Damian paused from folding the shirt in his hands.

"...Three months."

"Three months?! Damian! That's a long time!"

"It's not that long. And if we succeed, I'd feel much better knowing that the League is gone for good."

"Do you think it will work? How do you know someone won't bring it back?"

"I don't. Which is why I have a backup plan."

"Which is what?" Damian looked into Raven's ameythest eyes before turning away.

"Not important. I probably won't even have to use it."

"Damian-"

"Raven, it's a backup plan. And it's not important. So don't worry about it." Raven sighed but nodded. "I should probably go to bed now. I gotta get up early." Raven stood up and walked out of the room. She took one last look at Damian from the doorway before returning to her room
