Work Text:

At the My Melody kingdom, all is well for the most part. The boutiques in the area are getting good business, the architecture is stable and cute, and the people of the kingdom are embodying its pure heart more than ever. On the outside, everything and everyone seems to be worry free.

Except for a certain someone. Merold, the knight of the My Melody kingdom, was looking at the multiple reports he received regarding the recent Seed sightings. He would always be the one to banish them, and everyone would go on with their lives after the deed was done, but the reports have been steadily increasing. The Lord of the kingdom, My Melody herself, couldn’t help but notice how worried Merold has been for a long time. She wanted to relieve him of his worries but she didn’t know how.

When the knight noticed his lord’s presence, his worried expression turned soft.
“Hey Melody.” He said, “Do you need anything?” Melody went over to his desk, and hopped onto the surface area.
“These reports have been making you worry quite a bit, is everything ok Merold?” she asked. She had heard of the Seeds before, but fortunately she’s been lucky to never encounter one since they appeared so far.

He looked at her with sad but comforting eyes, and held one of her little hands. “It’s going to be ok, Melody. It’s nothing you should worry about, I’ll take care of everything.” He said. Melody smiled a bit, but she still looked worried.
“I know… but you shouldn’t-” she gets interrupted by Merold suddenly wincing, holding one of his ears with his hand.
“Merold!?” she asked, panicked.

The knight regains his composure, and goes to grab his Tact, the baton containing his magic.
“I’m sorry Melody, but I have to take care of this.” Merold said with a serious tone. Melody tries to think of what can hopefully help him feel more relaxed in a sense, feeling like she had to do it quickly.
“Um..Merold? Can we have a tea party?”
As Merold was opening the door, he looked back at Melody and smiled.
“After I make sure it’s safe to have, okay?” Then he quickly leaves.

Melody smiled and immediately got to work setting up. Since she’s very small, she had some of the servants of the castle help her take care of some things. She helped some of the bakers in baking some sweets, which included making some of Merold’s favorite cookies and treats. She also helped in the tea making, and directed how the decorations were going to look when he arrived. She wanted to make sure it was the most comforting tea party Merold can have, for she believes he deserves one and many more after everything he’s done for her kingdom.

Meanwhile, Merold was weakening and banishing the seeds as fast as possible. Due to his high power and skill, It was only a matter of time until he took care of them all.
After he knew everyone was safe, he wiped his head with his sleeve, “Well, that’s them taken care of.” Merold said with some pep. He turned around to face a shop in the district.
“You guys can come out now.” The shop owner and some customers that were in the area came out and dispersed.
The shop owner went to Merold directly, “Thank you so much, Sir Merold!”
Merold gave the man a wink, “It was no problem, I’m always there when there’s trouble around.” The shop owner gave him a small bag of assorted candies from the shop. “Here, as a token of gratitude for your help.”

“Whoa, Thank you so much.” Merold smiled, “I’ll make sure to enjoy every one.” He turned around to leave, giving the shop owner a wave. The Shop owner waved back with glee.

Merold sighed as soon as he knew no one else was around. Taking care of the seeds was pretty easy, but it was still a tiring act. He needed a nice break after that, and that tea party with Melody was just the thing he needed. He walked to his office, and noticed the cozy decorations throughout. Confused as he may be, he did feel a little at ease.

When he noticed how Melody’s door was slightly opened, he started to worry. Why was the door open? Did someone break in? Was she safe? Exhausted or not, he held his baton ready for battle, for Melody’s protection most importantly. He slowly crept to the door, and opened the door more. He took a look inside.

Melody’s eyes light up when she sees her knight, “Merold, welcome back!”.
By the look on his face, he immediately felt at ease when he saw her smiling and then he started to smile too. He also noticed that the comfy decorations didn’t just stop at the office, but it was also in Melody’s room. Along with a table with pastel tableware, teapots and tea cups. They were perfect for the tea party.
“Please, take a seat.” She said. Merold then approached the table and grabbed a chair. It was a bit small, so he had to hunch a bit but he didn’t mind. Melody goes to pour him a nice cup of tea.

Once he sat down, he noticed that the table had some of his favorite sweets and cookies. When he took a sip of the tea, it was the sort of tea he likes. There was stuff for him, but not for Melody. He felt sorry and didn't want her to feel left out, but then he remembers the bag of candies he got from the store owner and grabs it.
“Melody, I got this bag from a store owner earlier from helping him. Would you like some?”
Melody smiled, “Of course! Thank you.” Merold gives her the bag, and as she enjoys the candy, Merold feels free to enjoy his treats too.

The two of them spent time talking about the things they wanted to talk about, either the cute clothes or the ever so kind people of the kingdom. During this time, it felt like both can just relax and have fun just like they used to. Before the stress, before the fights, before the seeds even. At this point in time they can just…breathe.

After a while, Melody spoke.
“I wish Kurode would come by sometimes. He used to like to have the tea parties we would have together.” Merold’s face changed, Melody couldn’t see what he was thinking but it was something. His eyes gave off a distant feeling, one that remembers the times of togetherness with someone, but at the same time, many moments of strife and arguments. His features spoke of thoughts of possibly wanting to see them again, but he didn’t want to say it.

“Did I say something wrong?” Melody asked, worried, “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to make you sad.”
Merold looked up, getting out of his own thoughts. “No, no Melody. You didn’t say anything upsetting at all.” he said in a comforting tone.
The knight got an idea, “Hold on, I’ll be right back.” he said, and then went to his room. When Merold got back, he put down a purple animal plush in the third chair that happened to be near the table. It was his brother’s favorite plush.
“There,” he said, “Now he can be here in spirit.”

Melody smiled warmly, “Thank you, Merold.”
Merold smiled back, “Anything for you, Melody.” And the tea party then went on as usual. Though, with the plush in the room, it felt more comforting and warm than earlier. To both of them, that was a good thing.
