Chapter 1: Our Dear Telepaths Cross

Chapter Text

The sun was just peeking over Eden Academy as the yellow bus screeched to a stop in front of the  bus stop. This prestigious school was the best in Berlint, Ostania. Only the filthiest of rich would AND could attend such a prestigious school.

Channeling back to the bus stop, a pair of pink hair flashes our eyes. Little Anya—uhm. Excuse me, Miss Forger’s looking a bit—Alright we get it, I’m not Anya Forger.

My name is Kusuo Saiki. I’m pretty sure you’re aware but I’m not from this universe. My only concern to be here is for the Pastry Of Knowledge. It is the delight I’ve been craving ever since episode 29 of SPY X FAMILY was released. Now i’m not here for the intelligence it could potentially provide, I’m certain a high schooler like me is far more informed than a piece of sweet, though its is a scrumptious sweet. It is simply just a minor inconvenience that these delectable, mouth-watering and appetizing desserts are located in another universe. Another obstacle is how these desserts are only served to students on Eden Academy. This means I have to persevere in a six year old form of Kusuo Saiki. It’s bothersome, but anything for those snacks.

Kusuo continued on his way to enter within the school’s range. Determination bringing a spark into his eyes. His motive written in one word, Sweets.

From somewhere behind him, a small voice buzzed directly into his mind. This new kid’s so selfish. And what does he mean by different universe? Also did he just say episode 29? Does he watch Spy Wars too?

Saiki sighed, Just don’t pay attention to me kid. Silently, he sent back. Even though he knew he couldn’t hear his thoughts, it felt wrong to leave her hanging.

Both of their eyes widened, panicked and in disbelief. Emotions overflowing with confusion and bewilderment.

Did you just hear my thoughts!?

Saiki adjusted his pink hair in bafflement. A stubby legged, shorter than an average 6 year old, smug look kid is the esper in this story? He let out a groan, in hopes this shrimp could take the hint of his annoyed attitude. That wasn’t the case for Ms Anya Forger. Eyes widened like saucers, if it wasn’t for operation strix, she’d leave Damian alone for new kid!

After a while, the academy began to become filled with students. Despite this, Anya continued to trail behind Saiki.

Hey! You’re ignoring me aren’t you? Anya thought, still following Saiki.

Yes, you’re quite smart for your age. I have no interest in making friends. Saiki replied back in his mind, My priority here are the pastries.

WHAT!? Anya is even more interested! New kid is only here for food! She blurted, impressed on how such a small reason sparked this big moment.

Yes, I’m aware it’s petty but desserts are desserts.

The girl, in response, grinned—only mentally. Then… maybe Anya can help, she loves sweet things too! A smile formed on her face, pearly whites highlighting her adorable features.

No, absolutely not. Leave me alone, and quit calling me new kid. Actually, quit calling me at all. Saiki bluntly answered back, his mental voice sharp as blades.

But before he could mentally ‘shut her out,’ her thoughts kept leaking in.

Come on new kid! It’ll be a mission! Operation: Pastries! It’ll be super duper cool! Anya continued to exclaimed excitedly in her mind, even letting out a giggle.

His eyebrow twitched, his demeanor already breaking from her persistent pleads. It’s not dangerous, we’re in a school. The only danger here is stupid kids like you.

Anya pouted, New kid’s no fun, so boring!

Boring keeps you and desserts safe, so I’m completely fine with that. Saiki scoffed, as Anya kept clinging onto him.

Across the courtyard, a cluster of students noticed the small pink-haired boy walking side by side with Anya.

Becky Blackbell, perched elegantly on the edge of the fountain, immediately leaned toward Ewen, her eyes sparkling. “Oh my gosh… look at Anya! Walking with… him! Who is that? A new kid?”

Ewen, always a bit more reserved, squinted. “He doesn’t look threatening.”

Becky waved a hand dramatically. “Threatening? No, no, he’s… mysterious and nonchalant! And Anya… look at her! She’s already walking with him! Anya’s so grown up now! She’s so bold!”

Anya tugged Saiki’s hand with determined energy. “Becky! Look!”

…What? I did not agree to this, Saiki thought, and this child body absolutely refuses to cooperate with subtle departure methods.

Becky looked up just as Anya arrived, Saiki in tow. “Ooooh,” she said with a grin, “who’s your friend, Anya?”

Anya flopped onto her knees beside him. “This is him!” she declared proudly.

Me? Her friend? I am being forcibly moved by a six year old! Saiki thought flatly. If I even try to resist, she’ll just fly away with my powers. And teleporting would draw too much attention…making me loose the chance to snack on those macarons.

Damian spotted them from across the courtyard. His posture stiffened, not in shock. A new student? he thought.

Ewen smirked upon seeing Becky’s grin. “Stubby Legs always finds something weird,” he muttered quietly.

Emile chuckled under his breath. “Wait till she explains why she’s dragging him around like a lost puppy.”

I don’t care, she can do whatever she wants. Damian insisted to himself, though his eyes subtly tracked the trio. This means nothing, that uggo can do however she likes.

Becky leaned in, inspecting Saiki curiously. “He looks basic. Like, really average. What are you seeing in this guy?” Frowning, she sulked while she asked.

Becky turned her eyes toward Damian with a teasing glint. “Damian! Bet you’re wondering who he is, huh? Or are you so jealous you can’t stand to see them together is it?”

Damian’s expression had a faint crease appeared between his brows, a subtle hue of pink transitioned onto his face. Only someone trained in reading elite-level side-eye would notice. I almost feel bad for the new kid, he thought. Being dragged by a peasant is a humiliation.

Huh, it’s nice to know at least one kid has enough empathy to feel sorry for me.

Ewen and Emile exchanged quick smirks. “Nice to see Anya made a friend,” Emile said with no real warmth, more a casual observation.

“Yeah,” Ewen agreed, “looks… interesting.”

Anya was already bouncing in place. “He’s coming with us!”

No, I am not, Saiki thought. I didn’t consent to any of this. What a drag, kids are such a bother..

“Well,” Becky said with a playful shrug. “If he’s going to be around, might as well say hi properly.”

Damian turned fully toward the group, climbing onto his highest throne-like posture of superiority. “I do not see what’s so fascinating,” he said coolly, “but I suppose we should acknowledge him if he’s here.”

Ack… what? Why do I need to do that? Saiki’s mind briefly trembled with confusion. I just wanted pastries.

Becky poked Damian’s shoulder lightly. “Aw, come on, you’re TOTALLY curious!! Don’ lie about it!”

Damian kept his composure but internally cringed, He announced loudly. “L-Like Hell! I don’t care about that uggo or whatever she does with that guy!”

Saiki said silently, Ouch

Ewen and Emile stood behind him with one eyebrow raised, arms folded loosely,  not defending, just mirroring Damian’s attitude. They weren’t trying to protect him from Becky, only quietly observing because that’s what Ewen and Emile do.

Anya looked up at Saiki, energetic as ever. “Let’s go inside! I wanna learn your name!”

You little esper, Saiki thought. Hey—it’s Saiki. Now leave me be!

“This is gonna be fun, I can feel it.” Becky’s grin grew wider, subtly glaring at Damian.

Damian, with perfect neutrality on his face, walked forward with his henchlings. …I am not interested in this situation, he thought. “I simply want a normal morning.”

But everyone was already in motion a bright, chaotic first step into the school day that would be anything but ordinary.
