Chapter 1: Stalker or Savior?

Chapter Text

The alarm buzzes throughout the room as Felix lazily hits it. He mumbles, exhaustingly sitting up out of bed. "Ugh.. what time is it?" His head turns to his left, where his alarm lays. On the monitor it says "6:21".

"Shit, my job starts in 10 minutes!" Felix says, panicking. His face melts into concern, as his mind starts racing. He bolts around his room, quickly grabbing clothes and throwing them on himself. It sticks slightly to his toned body, also revealing his sweat. He runs back and forth, grabbing missed items. He fidgets with his hands, while biting the inside of his mouth. Amidst the chaos, the alarm rings out again. "6:25". Felix doesn't have much time before he is late to his work. His blood pressure is at it's highest, his heart beating an abnormal amount. He rushes to the bathroom, shakily picking up his toothbrush and making himself look presentable. Items fall around him as he sprints clumsily around his house. His phone rings out, however he ignores the call. He doesn't have time for little distractions. This is an important day after all, since it's his presentation day. His words are going to be broadcast to multiple companies around the world, and being late is no exception.

He grabs his backpack from his bed before ripping the door open. "Wait, wheres my phone?" He questions, patting down himself. He runs back near his bedside table, where his phone buzzes gently.

"Hello?" The voice on the other side calls out, alarmed and nervous. Felix puts the phone on his shoulder, catching it with his head tilted slightly. "I-I'm coming, I'm just running a little late." Felix exclaims into the phone, still gathering all his supplies. "The Director is looking around for you, we already have 50 people sitting at the table. You better be here quick." Felix sighs angrily as he puts his hand on his forehead, rubbing his temples. "I swear I'll-" the phone beeps twice, signaling the call has ended.

"Fuck… Fuck!" He says furiously, punching his bed hard. "Keep it together Felix, you must be cool today." His chest rises and falls fast, before reaching a slow momentum.

He bursts out of his bedroom quickly into his main room. His dishes lay on his table from last night, a slight odor releasing from them. Felix notices Milo, his cat, laying under the table. Milo eases out slowly, glancing at his owner in a curious playful look. "Hey Milo." Felix says shakily, taking a relaxing breath before kneeling down to rub the cat. Milo rubs against his hand gently, easing Felix. His mind wanders for a second, dissociating. He snaps back into reality, looking down at Milo still grazing against his hand, warm and gentle.

"I love you, but I have to go." He says, releasing his hand from Milo. Felix stands, shooting Milo a smile before a figure appears in the corner of his eye. It was white, with 2 other symmetrical figures on both sides. It appeared to be facing Felix, though he couldn't catch just exactly what the figure was. His head shoots to his left quickly, where the figure once stood. However, nothing remains, only the view of his kitchen. "That's what I get for having little sleep." He says, chuckling slightly and rubbing the back of his head. Felix reaches for the keys in his pocket, where they jingle as he holds them up.

"Bye Milo!" Felix says, turning his head behind him as he walks toward his door, grasping at his keys. As he holds them against the lock, he hands fumble, dropping the keys to the floor. "Shit." He says quietly, before releasing a snicker. Felix grabs the keys firmly off the floor, and successfully unlocks the door. He opens it quickly, walking outside into the concrete hallway filled with doors. He exits his apartment, spinning around to close his door. However, instead of Milo looking at Felix as he usually does, instead he is looking at the kitchen, his gaze fixed upon it. Felix looks at Milo suspiciously, before tugging at the door in a quick close.

The door in front of him closes, leaving the old sound behind and entering a new one. His eyes adjust to the harsh bright rays, glaring down at him. Felix rushes down the stairs of his building, his phone in hand. His feet touch the ground hard, his breathing heavy. He glances constantly at the phone screen, paranoidly checking the time. He's already more than 10 minutes late, and he's still 5 minutes down the street. The road next to him is full with traffic, a cacophony of horns and talking filling his ears. Without having a car, or enough time to call a cab, he has to sprint down the sidewalk. He weaves through crowds of people, every now and then recieving a comment from a person walking by. The building appears more and more into view and Felix inches closer and closer to the building. It is gigantic to say the least, with 5 floors, the top being full of glass. From the ground he can see people standing beside the wall, glancing down to the specks below. He sees his boss, looking around annoyed. "Shit, am I that late?"

Felix glances down at his phone again, where it lights up the numbers "6:42". "Shit, I am late!" Felix exclaims, eyes widening. He increases his pace as his anxiety does the same. His eyes linger on the phone screen, dissociating for a second. Suddenly, an object appears in front of him, causing him to stumble backward before getting caught. His bag falls off of his shoulders, falling hard onto the floor. The figure wraps his arm around Felix's back, catching him in one swift motion. His eyes glance up in front of him, to see a sharp stranger look at him dangerously.

The stranger says nothing; they just stare at Felix. They stand still, with an emotionless expression. Felix slowly backs up cauctiously. Felix bows slightly, "I'm sorry sir, my great apologies." Felix moves left, easing out of the man's way. As he escapes the scene, a hard grip reaches his arm. The man stares at him intently, before letting go. Felix moves out of the way back into the sea of people, a weird uneasy feeling inside his chest. He glaces to the right of him to take one good look at the man, to see him looking back at Felix, with cunning eyes. His stomach drops, as he swallows back fear.

As the race continues, Felix intertwines himself through the crowds yet again. The amount of people has increased, making breakouts from the group harder. At this point, he can see the door of the building, as a flow of people constantly walk inside of it. It stands across the road in front of him, which is only a few paces away.

Despite the traffic of people on and off the road, he successfully makes it to the checkpoint, which separates him and his workplace. "It can't be that long of a wait… right?" Felix questions, laughing despite the pressure. Beads of sweat run down his forehead, as his teeth retreat back to the side of his mouth, gnawing. He glances along the road, to find a never-ending trail of cars. His breathing starts intensifying as he checks his phone again. 6:50. As he waits uncomfortably, the minutes feeling like hours, the trail of cars finally come to a stop. Felix sprints past the walking crowd, onto the pedestrian walk. As he almost makes it, his feet halt.

"What the, why can't I move?" Felix questions anxiously, using all of his might to inch his body closer to the side walk. Yet, nothing works. A blaring horn blasts impatiently, before he sees the lights. Felix jerks his head to the left, to see a car heading full force to him; not expecting to slow down.

The lights blind him, as he stands there facing it, unable to move. It's like his feet are stuck to the ground with glue, and he can do nothing but watch his death. The horn sounds, getting louder and louder as it approaches him. Felix stands there, looking at the car with a pleading look. "Please, stop!" he says, putting his hands up in front of him. Screams are heard from all sides, with panicked voices and traumatized yells. Everything is a blur, as he gets impacted.

Felix's body collides with the ground hard, ensuing bloodcurdling screams. He feels as if his body is on fire; burning hotter and hotter with every part of him. His eyes fling open, to find a charming man over him, before his head collides with the ground. Felix's eyes flicker with despair as his mind fades, and soon does the rest of his body.

Felix wakes up in a snug bed, surrounded by cords and curtains. His eyes slowly regain sight along with his hearing. Steady beeping and chattering surround him, along with the charming man from before. "Are you alright?" he says, putting his hand on Felix's shoulder. "You almost died!"

Felix chuckles at him, as he sits up. "Thank you for what you did, I was expecting to be greeting Heaven not Earth." The mysterious man snickers in return, giving Felix a hug. "I'm glad you're okay." he says, most of the sound muffled by Felix's shirt. Felix wraps his arms around the man's as well, embracing each other.

"Thank you again, Mr…." Felix's sentence trails off, in expectance of an answer from the man. "Jisung," the man smirks, "Han Jisung."

Felix holds out his hand to shake Jisung's. "I would've died if it weren't for you, I cannot appreciate you enough."

"Say…" Jisung says, "would you like to grab a drink after this? I know a good place down-town, and you need one." Felix laughs in response, "That would be wonderful." As Felix and Jisung rumble on about the situation, the curtains are pulled back. "Glad to see that you're awake, Mr. Lee. You got impacted hard, however no injuries are present." The nurse walks around to the right side of Felix, to unhook him from his monitors. "At this time, you are able to leave safely, for no monitoring is needed." Felix bows in gratitude, before getting out of the bed.

"Well, that's a miracle." Jisung says, patting Felix's back. Just then, his phone rings, laying on the table beside him. He picks it up, to hear his co-worker on the other line. "Hey buddy, are you doing alright? I heard you went to the hospital you poor thing." Felix chuckles. "I'm okay, what about my job? I was late to such an important meeting…" He says, sighing off at the end before sitting back down. Felix looks up to Jisung, to see him giving Felix a pitying look. "Yeah… the boss decided to move the meeting forward a week, so you can care for your injuries. She said that your dedication to try and get here on time showed your importance and value to the company, but I'm sure she just said that because the meeting was live." Felix and his co-worker laugh together for a second, before Felix responds. "Alright, thanks buddy for filling me in. See you in a week."

"You too, and take care of yourself, okay?" The call ends, and Felix is left to sit there thinking about the situation. "Well, you want to go now?" Jisung asks, pulling Felix off the bed. Jisung takes his car keys out of his pocket and dangles them in front of Felix playfully. Felix nods happily, taking the keys from Jisung's hand.

"Here, here!" Jisung says, pointing at the building in front of them. Felix slows the car to a smooth slow momentum, as he looks past Jisung to read the sign. "Love Bites..? This is it?"Jisung turns his head to Felix's, nodding with enthusiasm. "That's it! It's the best bar in town, and the owner is super nice too." Jisung's face lights up with delight, abnormally excited to go inside. Felix snickers before he scavenges for a parking spot outside.

Felix sees an open spot, and turns into it. "Woah, don't hit the car!" Jisung says sarcastically, acting scared but clearly not working. "Chill out dude, I'm not even going to graze it." Just then, as Felix takes a sharp turn, something impacts the left side of the car. "Shit." Felix says under his breath, looking anxiously at Jisung. "No way! Did you actually hit it?" Jisung starts laughing his heart out, hitting his legs as a form.

"Shut up! It's fine, it's just a little spot." Felix says, masking his panicked insides. He puts his head outside the window to take a look, to which he finds a single piece of chipped paint. "It's not that bad." Felix says, focusing back on parking the car. "I just can't believe you fumbled that." Jisung says, holding in his laughter. "You can't even drive a car," Felix exclaims, "It's the whole reason why you made me drive."

"Fair," Jisung declares, "fair."

After successfully parking the car, not counting the hit, Felix and Jisung make their way towards the entrance of the building. It's flashy to say the least, with a shiny LED light entrance; It stands out through out the whole street.

Felix's attention wanders elsewhere, when Jisung eagerly grabs a hold of Felix's wrist. "Come on!" Jisung says, picking up the pace. Felix almost face plants into the ground multiple times, due to Jisung's rigorous behavior. At last, they reach the entrance of the bar, where a lady inside greets them. As Felix enters, it's like he's been transported to a different place. Music is blasting, people are screaming and laughing, dancing and singing, everything. It's a complete polar opposite to the hospital he was at not too long ago.

Felix is admiring the atmosphere, when Jisung pulls Felix towards the bar. "This is the best spot," Jisung exclaims, pointing in front of him, "You get to meet the owner! He works here often." Felix looks at Jisung slightly anxious. Jisung turns his head from Felix towards the bar again. "Hey Chan!" Jisung calls out, waving towards the intimidating man. He looks up, previously from cleaning a glass cup, and exchanges a smile with Jisung. The man looks behind Jisung, to see Felix standing there nervously; though he masks it the best he can.

"Who's the other guy?" Chan asks, resting his head with his hand as he leans forward on the table. Jisung approaches him, before he gestures to Felix. "This is Felix," Jisung says, before gesturing towards Chan, "And this is Chan." Felix reaches out his hand towards Chan. "It's a pleasure to meet you." he says, smiling politely. He looks like a god, with toned muscles all over him. His shirt is see-through due to his sweat, and you can see a huge scar run down with stomach. His face is all scratched up, with his blonde hair falling graciously over it. "Same as for you, pretty boy." Chan says, shaking Felix's hand. Jisung and Felix soon sit down in front of Chan. Felix watches them talk so casually, mesmerized and listening in. However, he can't help but realize that Chan flickers his gaze towards him, and it's not as welcoming as before.

Jisung and Chan chat for what feels like hours, Felix chiming in rarely. His mind goes elsewhere. "Oh my gosh Chan," Jisung says, catching Felix's attention, "Do you know what happened to my good buddy over here earlier?" Jisung looks expectant at Felix, as if he's waiting for Felix to continue the conversation. Felix sits there for a while, looking at both Jisung and Chan with confused eyes. "O-Oh! Me?" Felix points to himself awkwardly, receiving a chuckle from Jisung. "Nah, the air. Of course you! Tell Chan here about your car accident." Felix turns shy, rubbing the back of his head nervously. He closes his eyes, hoping that when he opens them again they'll move on. But, it's not use, for when he opens his eyes they're both still looking at him.

"Fine." Felix says, taking a sigh before continuing. "I was passing the road to get to work, when a car almost hit m-" "And then I saved him!" Jisung declares, cutting off Felix. Felix laughs, but in an exhausting way. "Say," Chan says, leaning towards Felix, "You best be careful. You don't know if somethings ever out to get you." Felix chuckles politely, despite him being concerned. His eyes flick from Chan to Jisung, who clearly doesn't care about the conversation. Felix tries to tear his gaze away, saying "Yeah, I should." However, when he returns his eyes back, Chan still stares at him sharply.

The chat continues between the trio, talking about love life, games they play, and more. Felix looks down at his watch. "Hey," Felix says, calling out to Jisung, "It's almost 10. I should really get going." Jisung turns to him in response, his eye widening in surprise. "O-oh, really..? I suppose I should get back too then, I have work to do." Jisung responds, chuckling nervously before he starts grabbing his bag. "It was nice to meet you." Felix says, turning towards Chan before bowing down slightly. He rises from his chair, grabbing the keys from Jisung. "Hope to see you soon." Chan calls out politely as Felix and Jisung depart, however his face is scrunched up in hatred. "Do you need a ride?" Jisung says, tapping Felix on his shoulder. Felix shrugs, walking out the door with Jisung behind. "No, my place is pretty close to here. What about you, didn't you drink tonight?" He says, turning cautiously towards Jisung. "Nah, it was just water." He smiles drunkly, trying to mask how many drinks he had.

"Don't die, I don't need to be expecting you to see heaven instead of Earth." Felix calls out, smiling jokingly at Jisung before he heads down to his house. It's dark and misty, with little sight available besides the flickering lights. Felix grabs his phone out of his pocket to use as a light, moving it side to side down the street. As he walks down, a sudden face appears in his light, startling him. It's a figure with a wicked smile, though he can't make out who it is in that moment. "Oh shit!" Felix says, bouncing back on his heels. The figure grabs him, dragging him into an alley. His back gets pressed into the wall hard, as his mouth gets covered by the figures hand. As the lights flicker in the alley, he can make out who it is. "Chan?"

Chan moves his left hand that pinned him against the wall to Felix's stomach, punching him hard. Felix spits out blood into Chan's hand. Felix scrunches over in agony, letting out a guttural scream in the process. Chan doesn't stop as he constantly punches again and again. Felix's vision blurs, as he slides down the wall, slowly becoming unconscious. "What did you see…?" Chan says menacingly looking down at Felix. Felix catches his breath, hunching over to spit out more blood. "What do you mean?" he chokes out.

"When you were going to work, did you see him?" Chan asks, crouching down to meet eye to eye with Felix. Chan puts his hand under Felix's chin, lifting his head up to look at him. "Answer me pretty boy." Felix raises his eyes slowly to Chan, looking at him with pleading eyes. "I-I don't know what you're talking about." He says, his body slowly melting to the floor in weakness. "You bumped into somebody, right?" Chan inquires, using his other hand to grasp at Felix's neck. "Yes… I s-saw him…" Felix answers fragily, slowly closing his eyes.

Chan tightens his grip on Felix's neck. Felix starts gasping for air, frailly clawing at Chan's hand. "It's funny," Chan responds, easily throwing Felix's feeble arms of his, "you need to be afraid of seeing the one thing that helps you." He snickers, dropping Felix's head to the floor. Felix lays there, with no more power to give. His eyes flicker to a close, before he sees the figure again.

It's pure white, with wings sprouting off each side of it. It looks angelic, with black and white hair. It attacks Chan, pinning him to the ground in front of him. "It's also funny of you to think you can hurt my partner." The figure says, wrapping his hand around Chan's throat before lifting him up off the ground. Chan dangles in the air, suspended by the figures hand around his esophagus. He coughs, and then starts to wheeze while frantically kicking and clawing.

Chan's body starts to move less and less, before his arms drop beside him. His head falls down, before his whole body falls to the ground. The figure approaches Felix, examining him before his eyes flitter shut.

Felix jolts up, grabbing his neck in instinct. In front of him is the winged figure, sitting in front of him on Felix's table, caressing Milo. His attention is focused on the cat, giving it love before he hears the couch adjust to Felix. The figure's eyes jolt up towards Felix, a mix of concern and happiness in his face. "Are you okay..? I'm really sorry for what happened back there." It says, not moving closer. Felix flashes a startled look, backing up on the couch. "W-who are you? Whats going on?" His speech gets faster with every word, as his chest rises and falls with unsteadiness. "Calm down," the figure says, holding a "stop" motion with his hand, "I'm not an enemy."

"Then who are you… What are you.?"

The figure takes in a deep breath, before looking down and sighing. "I'm your guardian angel. My sole purpose is to protect you." It fumbles with it's hands, showcasing anxiety. "That man you met on your way to work… was another angel. You're not supposed to see him, in fact you're not even supposed to see me. How you saw me this morning is beyond what I know." The figure looks up at Felix, to see him calming down, but still alert. Felix adjusts himself on the couch, presenting himself more comfortable and relaxed than before. "W-wait, so you're telling me what I saw this morning was.. you? That I just didn't see an illusion… that this is all real?"

"Yes, and you're in grave danger." The figure says, going into a thinking mode. The room is silent, with Felix taking in all the information. "Why did Chan attack me earlier, does he have a part in this?" Felix asks, looking at the figure, hoping that it's a "no" answer. The figure bites his lips, before answering with a comforting tone. "Yes.. The angel you saw on the street belongs to him." "W-wait, that was an angel? You're telling me I bumped into an angel?" Felix stands up, biting his finger. "This is all some sick joke, right?" He looks at the figure in concern, but also in a pleading look. "Please say this is all a joke…" His voice trails off, growing silenter as tears begin to fight their way through his eyes.

"This isn't some joke." The figure says, looking at Felix seriously. "The angel you saw earlier is named Hyunjin. It's bad already that you even saw him, but it's worse knowing he's dangerous. His job is to not only protect Chan, but to kill people who can see Guardian Angels." Felix is about to speak again, before he pieces the parts together. Chan tried to kill Felix for Hyunjin, because Felix saw him. "Hyunjin can't kill you right now," The figure intterupts, invading Felix's line of thought, "but Chan can. His effect on you will grow stronger every day, so you have to counter him."

"How am I supposed to do that?" Felix asks, sitting down on the couch again. "I still have a lot of questions." Felix looks down, distraught. The figure puts his hand on Felix's leg, soothing him. "And I'll answer every one of them. But for now, you need to go to bed, we have a long day tomorrow." Felix looks at him with a delighted and anxious look. The figure gets up off the table, heading towards the kitchen. "Oh, wait!" Felix says, standing up. "What's your name?" The figure turns, looking at Felix with a smile.

"Call me Jeongin."

Notes:

Yes.. There are spelling errors... I fixed them and then when I swapped to a different text style it un-did ALL of them... (and I'm kind of too lazy to fix them...)
That was a WHIRLPOOL huh? Honestly, Felix is kind of weak to faint TWICE in one day; our boy has been through a lot. Also, possibly a Hyunchan ship..? Should I..?
