Work Text:

Alex knew he had an issue when it came to caffeine, but at the same time it wasn't an issue he felt the need to fix. Sure, his caffeine intake was excessive and could even be considered dangerous from an objective standpoint, but he was still alive and well, so he didn't think too much of it. Alex liked his coffee. He liked his espresso shots. On several occasions Alex had drunk a full thermos full of concentrated espresso as a means to an end. It was a fact that earned him a lecture from Ivo and a suspension of his espresso machine privileges during his internship. Alex hadn't repeated the behavior much since except on rare occasions, but that didn't mean he didn't still abuse the amount of espresso he put into his drinks, and then there was the sugar aspect, as Ivo had introduced him to the concept of flavored coffee, and that led him down a massive spiral that was bound to kill him before he reached retirement. Alex didn't care. He liked his coffee.

Unlike Alex, however, Slade wasn't an absolute lunatic when it came to the stuff, or at least not on the same level. Slade liked his coffee fine as part of his morning routine. Most of the coffee he drank was hot black coffee. Every once in a while, he would treat himself to an iced coffee or even a frappuccino on a rare occasion, but most of those rare occasions were because Alex refused to order him a plain black coffee. It should not come as too much of a surprise that Alex found his taste of coffee weird, but as much as Alex detested his black coffee preferences for its lackluster taste and its normal caffeine levels, it was his preference for instant coffee that made Alex sick. Alex was used to expensive stuff. Alex had once mentioned that Ivo had coffee imported for them. He couldn't fathom the idea of cheap instant coffee, let alone without syrups and sweeteners. Slade didn't argue with Alex anymore about his taste. It didn't matter. He loved Alex enough to deal with his complicated orders, and Alex loved him enough not to throw out the cheap instant coffee in the cabinet.

“I told you that we should have waited until we reached the office for a second round.” Alex remarked as he rushed around the kitchen to ensure that they had everything they needed for work, unable to hide how stressed he was at that moment. “You make the coffee and I'll make us a quick breakfast.”

“If we waited until we reached the office, we wouldn't have an excuse to have round three.” Slade remarked with an overall sense of amusement as he worked to make the coffee as Alex started to cook next to him, pausing for a second as his mind drew a blank. “Was it four or five shots of espresso?”

“Seven but make it twelve this time. Oh and add extra caramel syrup too.” Alex responded as he started to craft breakfast sandwiches, shaking his head as he adhered to Slade’s weird sandwich preferences. “I'm going to need that extra boost if you want me to fuck you again.”

“When you crash on this stuff, make sure you do it after you fuck me.” Slade muttered as he sealed both thermoses before he focused his attention entirely on Alex, licking his lips slightly when Alex added a few drops of hot sauce on his sandwich. “Oh! Cut them into triangles!”

Alex couldn't help but roll his eyes at the demand, but he listened and cut them into triangles before he wrapped them up and collected the rest of his stuff. Slade collected the thermoses, and the two of them headed out together. It was only once the two of them reached the car that they traded, and Alex took his coffee as Slade took his sandwich. Slade had insisted on these matching thermoses, which was cute in theory, but in practice it led to issues like this one. Alex took a long sip fully expecting to be met with rich espresso and caramel sweetness, but instead he was met with the flavor of hot instant coffee. He should have known the lack of a rattle from the ice should have been an indicator. He would have much rather Slade come in his mouth again than have to deal with that taste a second time. Slade also tasted better.

“This is definitely not mine.” Alex phrased carefully as he tried to avoid insulting the man he loved more than he needed to, immediately trading drinks with Slade as he started to eat his own sandwich. “How the hell do you drink that stuff?”

“I could ask you the same.” Slade reasoned as he drove, taking a bite of his sandwich in-between stoplights. "Fuck, this is a good sandwich.”

“You better be happy I love you.” Alex muttered as he watched Slade savor the sandwich as if it were the best thing he ever tasted, doing his best to stifle a laugh when Slade actually moaned at the taste. “Freak.”

“Only in the sheets.” Slade remarked as he finished the sandwich and pulled into the parking lot, taking a moment to stare up at the tower as Lex collected his stuff. “Fuck me against the window.”

Alex would have liked to have claimed he was someone who told Slade no. He would have liked to have claimed he was someone who refused that demand. He would have liked to have claimed a lot of stuff, but he couldn't because he did in fact fuck Slade in his office against the window. He traumatized one window washer and gave Slade something to laugh at for the next week and a half. He was a weak man. He was a weak man when it came to Slade’s ass, and even worse was the fact that Slade convinced him not to stop. That poor window washer now needed therapy.
