Nothing in the world was better than this, Jay was sure. Getting crushed by your 6'5" boyfriend who was heavier and wider was unbeatable. Who needs a weighted blanket?

Okay, maybe SOME things were better. Cole was a heavy sleeper, he always had been, but in the middle of the night when you had to piss, cuddles were definitely inconvenient.
"Cole," Jay tried, patting him on the back. "Babe, I need you to move." No response. He tried to wiggle out from underneath Cole, but that didn't work either. He grunted. Maybe he could try pushing Cole off of him? Jay might be the smallest of the ninja, but he was just as strong as the others- and definitely faster than a few of them. Here goes nothing..!
Really? Nothing? First Master, Cole slept like a bag of rocks. Fitting for the Master of Earth, sure, but super annoying sometimes. It woulda been funny if it didn't make Jay almost pee himself regularly. Whatever. He didn't like resorting to this, but..
Jay concentrated, focusing on only letting out a little bit of energy- and literally shocked Cole awake.
"OW! Wha- The hell, Jay? What w's that for?" Finally, Cole blearily lifted himself up enough for Jay to wriggle free. Practically launching himself out, Jay ran off without responding.
A few minutes later, Jay came back, shaking the water off of his hands. He swiped the rest off on his hoodie, and stood in the doorway. The wind had blown the curtain open, and light from the moon and the city beneath them glowed through the window. It dragged itself across the room, a sparkling trail from the windowsill to their bed. He walked over to it, pushing the curtain out of the way. The light ended just before reaching Cole's face, which was a pity- His skin always looked so pretty in the light.
Cole really was such a beautiful soul. He was handsome, and clever, and kind. He was strong, and honest, and reliable, and was one of the few people who put up with Jay's ridiculousness. Above all else, he was Jay's best friend. How did someone amazing like him ever end up with Jay, of all people? Jay didn't deserve him. He didn't deserve any of the ninja, really. He- agh!
"Hey. Come back to bed. I can practically hear you spiraling."
..Oh.
Jay turned around to see Cole, gloriously lit by the moon and practically glowing.
"C'mon, Jay. Whatever you're telling yourself, it probably isn't true. You and I both know you start catastrophizing when you're overtired." He smiled softly, the night sky lighting up his deep brown eyes. Before Jay could say anything, he was picked up and brought back to bed.
Once they'd both gotten settled, Jay turned towards Cole. He hesitated a little before speaking, but he got it out eventually.
"... Hey. Thanks for, uh. Rescuing me, I guess." He laid his head in the crook of Cole's neck, grateful all over again for his physical form returning. Whenever Jay couldn't sleep, laying next to Cole and hearing his heartbeat calmed him down.
"It's no problem, man. We've known each other long enough that I can tell when you're stuck in your own head. Sometimes all you need is someone to pull you back up." Cole leaned down to kiss the top of Jay's head. A gentle hand carded through his hair, scratching pleasantly at his scalp. "I love you, y'know. No matter how many times I have to pick you up when you fall, I'll still want to hold you. Get some sleep, baby."
He never wanted to cry whenever Cole said some sappy junk like that, but it really did mean the world to him. Jay tried to wipe away the tears that sprang up, hoping Cole wouldn't notice, but he always caught that kind of stuff.
"I love you too, Cole. Goodnight." Jay swallowed his tears, and looked back through the window. The stars were shining, the moon was bright, and somebody loved him.
There really was nothing better than this.
