Work Text:
Your mother died when you were younger and you never found out where your Father went.
In a castle you had lived with your grandmother.
A man would come to the castle to help raise you.
Everybody else was too scared of your power too.
Apparently he helped hatch your egg.
You don’t know much more.
You hesitated to call him Father.
So you never did.
Even though a human was allowed to.
Even though he performed all the actions a father was supposed to do.
(You are glass, cold and brittle)
Everytime you came over to their cottage the human would cling to him.
Talking gibberish and giggling.
When it wasn’t happy it cried.
He just looked at it with a blank look and told it to stop crying.
But that was only on days he was tired.
Sometimes you caught him looking at you with the same blank look that he gave the human child.
You wanted to ask why.
You never did.
(So I never pushed too hard)
Much later you find out that his name is Lilia.
And that he was the general.
You find out by accident.
Wandering through the dark halls of your castle.
Or maybe it’s your prison.
Overhearing the servants talking about a fae named Lilia.
This wasn’t the first time they had talked about this “ LIlia”.
All you knew was that he was terrifying as well as being close to the king and queen.
To your parents.
You didn’t know what compelled you to stay and listen.
You just did.
You find out that it was him only when they mentioned that this Lilia had taken in a human baby.
(Cause you break from so little)
You decided to see what would happen if you called him by name.
Walking through the door to the small cottage, you see the human now a year old lifting itself up to walk.
Lilia tells you it’s only a matter of time till he can walk and talk effortlessly.
You wonder how long he will last.
Humans were like dogs in a way.
Such short life spans.
You immediately try to get rid of those thoughts.
It’s not kingly or princely since you are not yet king.
You fail to get rid of them by yourself.
Most likely since you weren't trying that hard to begin with.
To take your mind off of your thoughts you thank Lilia for letting you stay.
You make sure he hears his name.
The effect is immediate.
He turns his head, eyes widening.
Just as quickly as it happened he chuckles asking what else you found out.
You tell him that you know he fought in wars.
He stays silent through it all smiling slightly and nodding his head.
But you know better than to trust blindly.
You know that you weren’t supposed to find out.
After only a few minutes he tells you to leave.
You took the human child with you.
After all it’d be unfortunate if it dies from Lilia’s feelings.
He doesn't object.
On your way out you hear an alcohol bottle opening.
( And I cut myself on every shard)
The times you do decide to argue Lilia was when he yelled harsh things at your future guards.
The human child you’ve called “it” out of spite is named Silver.
You always knew you just didn’t care.
You now call it “he” now to prove that you’ve matured.
You also know a half crocodile fae named Sebek.
He’s rather loud, but alright.
You watch as the two of them spare each other.
Swords clash as the two of them drip with sweat.
You think they did good.
It’s not good enough for LIlia though.
He corrects them.
Once.
Twice.
His words grow crueler and crueler.
You decided to step in.
You tell him to stop and that he needs to treat future guards with respect.
He scoffs asking what you know
Thunder booms the sky.
Stupid powers, you thought, always telling your emotions.
You guys argue over the correct way to train the knights in training.
Until at some point in the argument Lilia says that you’re so much like your mother that it disgusts him.
You stop.
Both of you stare at each other.
And then you leave.
(I wish that you were clearer)
Soon you, the human, the half fae, and the general enter NRC.
Your grandmother made you go and Lilia came with you.
At this point you’ve grown to like Lilia.
You’ve gotten yourself attached and you’re not sure how.
Maybe it’s because you have no one else.
You have Silver and Sebek, sure, but they were practically forced to be your friends.
At least you know a good amount about them.
You’re not sure about Lilia.
He tells everyone that you two are just close friends.
But he did that with Silver too.
You feel bad every time you remember the look on his face as Lilia told him not to call him Father anymore.
You know more about Lilia than most people at least.
Still you’re not an idiot it’s painfully obvious that he’s keeping something from you.
You’ve never been good at reading people.
Must have something to do with your upbringing.
A lot of your problems are because of your upbringing.
It’s easier at least to blame them all on that.
You’ve always liked it when people were easier to read.
But since the world hates you Lilia is anything, but that.
You’ve seen him at clubs, events, in classes.
A bit bored, although he is happy.
In training he is tough and serious, sometimes cold.
If the training ended with injury or one of the two guards kept repeating the same mistakes then Lilia would be in a foul mood.
You often avoid him when he’s like that.
You also know that he is gifted with technology.
He has an “online friend”.
You find this odd considering that you’re younger than Lilia and still have trouble working the microwave.
When did he have the time to immerse himself in human culture?
The last thing that you’ve noticed is when the two of you finished talking he walked away.
Lilia had walked away.
Not teleporting like he usually would, he had simply walked.
Like a human.
When you bring it up the next day asking why he did that.
He told you he was just tired waving his hand in the dismissive way he usually did.
You know he’s lying.
You just don’t know why.
( And could see my point of view)
Lilia is leaving.
His magic had run out and in turn so had his life span.
That was what he was hiding.
Once the year was over he was leaving so he could die in peace.
Away from everybody.
Away from you.
You don’t want him to go.
You know this want is selfish.
You’re not even his son.
He loved you out of duty.
Doesn't he deserve to rest in peace?
You overblot.
You didn’t mean to.
Nobody means to.
You’re the prince, future king of the faes.
You’re supposed to be more powerful than that.
You’re supposed to be above everyone and never stoop so low as to lose your mind.
But you still do.
You trap everyone in a dream.
To keep them safe you told yourself.
Or maybe you just couldn’t handle losing anybody else.
After Lilia had announced he was leaving you realized a lot of things.
Lilia will die first, then Silver, then Sebek, and then your grandmother.
You would be burying them all.
You don’t want to do that, so you trap them instead.
Everyone has awakened from their dreams.
Coming together to fight you.
Like you're the villain.
Why won’t anyone understand it’s for their own good?
No, why is Lilia leaving.
Why couldn’t Lilia see how lonely he was already.
Why would he just leave him?
Why would he do this?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
Why?
You killed Lilia.
It was an accident
You didn’t mean to.
You were able to bring him back to life though.
But you still killed him.
When he woke up Silver, Sebek, and him all hugged you.
Like you deserved that love.
Doesn't Silver realize that you killed his father.
Doesn't Sebek realize that you killed the person he put so high up on a pedestal.
Why are they hugging a murder?
What if they hadn’t been able to bring him back.
He should just go back to the castle.
Stay away from civilization like he’s been doing for practically his whole life.
The worst part is that Lilia was dying because of you.
He gave up his life force to hatch you.
You’re so ungrateful.
The man gave years of his life to someone like you.
You couldn’t even give him the luxury of going peacefully.
Soon nightfall comes.
Everyone has left to go sleep off all the damage.
Damage you've caused.
Instead you walk around the school.
You walk and walk.
Maybe you’re waiting for something to happen.
You’re not sure what.
Just that you are.
After hours you give up on waiting and leave.
Whatever is out there doesn't want you.
You lie down and stare at the ceiling instead.
You’re supposed to be above everyone else.
So why aren’t you acting like it?
