Claramente, com a sorte de Andrew não era de se espantar que sua alma gêmea estivesse morta.
Apesar de jamais ter admitido nem mesmo para Bee, no fundo, existia uma parte de Andrew que pensava sobre magia. Sobre cosmos. Já que a sorte nunca estava a seu favor, pelo menos o karma poderia dar algo bom a ele depois de ter tirado tanto.
Sua alma gêmea poderia ser, quem sabe, alguém com quem Andrew pudesse ser ele mesmo. Alguém que aceitasse suas piores partes, suas partes mais sangrentas, afinal, sua alma gêmea estava lá com ele. Sua alma gêmea via através de seus olhos quando você estava prestes a morrer.
Há sete anos, Andrew Minyard sentiu a conexão com sua alma gêmea pela última vez e desistiu do sentimento tolo de que alguém um dia o aceitaria. Até Neil Josten aparecer na cidade com seu sorriso encrenqueiro, passado misterioso e Andrew pensar que mesmo sem sua alma gêmea ele pudesse ser feliz.
