Summary
This story is set after Crystalised and in a universe where the merge will not happen. I loved the idea of Lloyd needing to confront his Oni side, and was disappointed at how briefly he used it in Crystalised. I wanted to continue that arc, giving him some motivation to explore it further. I also like the sibling relationship between Wu and Garmadon, good and evil, opposites yet in the same family. I thought it would be interesting if this dynamic continued to the next generation. This does mean I have introduced one OC who is key to the story. I have slotted them in in a canon compliant way. There is a healthy portion of Oni lore, Garmadon family drama, plenty of feels, and some lovely Jay & Cole moments.
Note: It is a different canon divergence to my previous Ninjago long fic Wojira's anguish, so you don't need to read that first (and will be confused if you expect it to be a continuation!). It is the same AU as my mother's day shorts, but they are not high on plot, so also don't need to be read first. The Jay chapter gets referenced once. -

Summary
On the way home from a trip Lilia overhears a curious tale about a castle with a supposed 'sleeping beauty' resting within. Intrigued, he decides to investigate only to find an old enemy lying cursed within alongside a precious treasure. Maybe it was because he grew soft in age or perhaps he was too curious for his own good, Lilia decides to break the curse. Whether this fairytale had a happy ending or not, he was willing to see this through to its conclusion.
