Summary
Although they are dating, their relationship is kept secret. Only a handful of people know about it—Gen could even count them on one hand. Well, Senkuu is always logical, so Gen assumed his boyfriend hid their relationship status out of respect for privacy and because he wasn’t the type to flaunt romance in public. So Gen never commented further. Who would have thought, Senkuu had a reason far more... let’s say... intimate and important.

With Senku’s fingers animating him, he feels like one of his own tricks. But there’s no gimmick, no out. No misdirection. No smooth talk, no magic words to hide behind. It’s just Senku and Gen and what Senku wants. What Senku wants, and what Gen needs.
Senku never gives up. He’ll keep at him until Gen shows him what he wants to see. Until he shows Senku the truth.
Gen gives up.
He must. He can’t fight Senku and himself, too.

Senku had known subconsciously that he’d missed having Gen around, but it truly hit at that moment, his own exhaustion making itself known. Bone deep but with a softer, warmer slant - the kind of tired that came from cozy winter nights talking over hot drinks, the quiet domesticity of working together with no need for conversation because silences were never awkward.
And with that realization came a second - Gen was his person.
Not because he was useful, or brilliant in all the ways Senku wasn’t, or because he seemed to always come back no matter what.
But because he chose Senku every single time. And Senku chose him in return.

Summary
Senku had always considered himself a rational person. Human attraction, in his opinion, had historically made people act deeply stupid. Wars fought over pretty faces. Songs written about someone’s eyelashes. Entire industries dedicated to romance.
Objectively absurd behavior.
Which was why, growing up, he had mostly assumed people exaggerated physical attraction out of social convention. Sure, people could look aesthetically pleasing. He understood symmetry. Proportions. Biology. But the way Taiju used to combust over Yuzuriha? Utterly incomprehensible.
Or so Senku had thought.
Then Gen happened.
And, apparently, the universe decided it was high time to humble him personally.

Summary
"Gen," Senku said, voice lower than usual. "Need to talk. Privately."
Gen raised an eyebrow, playful mask sliding into place automatically. "Oho? Senku-chan wants a secret meeting? Should I be flattered or scared~?"
"Look," Senku started, exhaling sharply. "Sapphire's... persistent. She's starting to interfere with work. Keeps showing up during critical experiments. Distracts the team. I need her to back off."
Gen tilted his head, amused. "So tell her you're not interested. You're good at being direct, Senku-chan."
"I did. Multiple times. She thinks it's 'tsundere' or some nonsense. Village girls hear too many old romance stories or something." Senku grimaced. "Science doesn't have time for this drama."
Gen chuckled. "Poor Senku-chan, the heartthrob of the stone world. What do you want me to do? Hypnotize her? Stage a dramatic rejection scene?"
Senku looked at him then—really looked. And there was something vulnerable in those eyes. Fear? Anxiety? It was so out of place on Senku's face that Gen's teasing died in his throat.
"No," Senku said quietly. "I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend."
"Excuse me?"

Irreplaceable.
No one had ever said that to him before. Not without wanting something in return.
Of course his needy heart latched on. Of course it did. Senku was the first person who'd ever given him stability without strings. The first person who saw through his masks and liked what was underneath anyway. The first person who made the world feel a little less like a stage full of actors waiting to betray him.
He couldn't risk it. Couldn't risk ruining this—the one genuine thing in his life. Friendship with Senku was already more than he'd ever had. Love? Confessing love? That was asking the universe to laugh in his face again.

or 5 times Senku and Gen slept together and one time they slept together
-

He had told himself what he felt for Senku was simply admiration. Respect for a mind that could turn nothing into everything, who saw value in what others often took for granted. Appreciation for someone who saw through his manipulations and still kept him around anyway.
That had been safe. Simple. Convenient, even. But admiration didn’t make you walk head first into enemy territory to gather intel. It didn't make your chest ache when someone was shot or stay up all night to watch them work themselves into the ground.
And it certainly didn’t make your heart race because they happened to be holding you in their sleep.
Gen let out a quiet, helpless little laugh. He knew his feelings were illogical, useless even. Falling for Ishigami Senku was perhaps the most foolish thing he could have ever done.

Summary
Gen flirted and that was that. It was practically one of his core personality traits, right up with weaseling out of work and lying with a straight face. Assigning a deeper meaning to it would be like assigning intent to static electricity - annoying and surprising, but ultimately random. He'd sit back and watch, waiting for Senku to fluster or brush him off as he usually would.
Senku instead decided it was finally time for Plan B.

To be fair, the omega flirted with everyone - compliments and honeyed words coming as automatically as breathing did to him. He laughed and joked and touched without regard to gender or designation - which was why when he found himself on the receiving end of Gen’s flirtations Senku hadn’t been too surprised.
It had been easy enough to ignore as just another one of Gen’s oddities, but recently Senku had begun to swear that it was… different with him. That Gen was different with him.

Summary
Senku always treated alpha/omega dynamics as inconvenient background noise - and that opinion didn't change much when Gen's heats start coming with an annoying tendency to cling onto him.

Senku didn’t waste much time thinking about the societal politics of alphas, betas, and omegas. It wasn’t that he looked down on it – as an alpha and a scientist he acknowledged that certain biological imperatives had developed over thousands of generations of evolution and therefore had at least some reason for existing. He just found it irrelevant to his day-to-day life – chemistry didn’t care about scent hierarchies and physics wasn’t affected by estrus cycles.
Post-petrification, he gave just enough thought to get a rough estimate of when certain people would hit their cycles for resource planning, but beyond that gave little care to what he considered to be the interpersonal bullshit that went along with dynamic politics.

Summary
“I have heard of this,” Ruri says softly, crouched beside the worktable. Her fingers hover just above the broken glass shards, careful not to touch. Gen holds the cloth open in his palms, revealing both the fractured remnants and the single, perfect star. They shimmer in the bright sunlight. “Though there hasn’t been a case in the village in years. It’s not a common disease. More of an old story, really.”
Gen watches her carefully. “But a real one?”
She nods slowly. “As far as we’ve been able to tell. It’s said to be driven by extreme emotions, ones the body can’t contain. The tears turn solid. Crystallize.” She pauses, then adds, “Not always into shapes like this, though. That part is…new.”
Gen’s eyes drop to the star again, impossibly clear and cold in the sunlight. It looks more like a snowflake carved by hand than anything that should come from a human body.
“How odd it is that it’s our dear Senku who developed it then,” Gen says lightly.

Senku starts crying glass stars.

Summary
Gen is a shallow man, one who cheats, steals, and manipulates. He is a man who speaks carefully, choosing what words he says out of necessity rather than feeling. He knows this; he has known this since his career blew up in flames.
So why, why is he back? What makes this second chance at life so wonderful? Such people, like himself, shouldn't have such deep feelings, when even the birds in the sky could tell they would never be reciprocated, his disgusting body held the memory tight.or,
The Gen-Centric fic where perhaps Gen's previous life wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, and his stone world counterpart isn't having any luck either. Hanhaki disease elements.

When was the last time he's had this? The ability to choose? He wasn’t allowed to go barefoot in the show industry or the classroom, but in the stoneworld, he could; his hair didn’t have to be dyed, he wasn’t expected to perform, in fact, his academic knowledge was more valuable. He got to play the shallow, smart, coy man, someone who was needed to succeed, not a product.

Summary
It’s admiration, he would whisper to himself late at night when the knots in his heart kept him from sleeping, he’s a role model. Gen knew he didn’t look up to Senku - what did a magician have to gain from a scientist, anyways? - but he was afraid of permanence. Afraid of failure. Afraid that he would fall for Senku but Senku wouldn’t fall for him.

Gen likes Senku but doesn’t want to admit it. Senku likes Gen but doesn’t know how to admit it. Somewhat emotional chaos ensues.

Gen never felt the need to be delicate in the past. Just one night, he would remind himself, none of this will last. For whatever reason, though, Senku was different. He didn’t want Senku to just be one night. He hoped that Senku might last longer, might want to stay with him for as long as they could.
He knew that was illogical, but he still wanted to believe it.

Senku turns a flower over in his hands. The specimen is simple--five white petals, star shaped, and small green leaves. Berries dot the floor beneath his feet. They rolled out from his pillow, right beside where he'd fallen asleep last night.
His lungs feel tight. The Liar, Gen's favorite flower, and deadly poisonous to boot. And he's just woken up with it in his mouth.

“Do you remember when I asked you to make me a cola? As a condition of my cooperation?”
“That’s not what you did.”
Gen ignores him. “Do you know why I asked for a cola? I could have asked for weapons for protection or power or anything. You were at my mercy.”
“You wouldn’t have–”
“I asked for a cola because it was completely unnecessary. And there was no way to justify making it besides the fact that I wanted it. I wanted to see if you would do something for me because I asked for it.” Gen squeezes Senku’s hand until his knuckles turn white. “I really am the most shallow, selfish man alive. I wanted to know that I could make you think of me, even when I wasn’t there. The most brilliant man on the island, the smartest man in the whole world, and you made a cola for me.”
“I don’t mind wasting time if it's for you.” Senku’s breath eases, even if he hasn’t confessed yet. “You really are the most selfish man alive.”
Gen’s head dips. “Confess, you idiot.”

“This is a problem. We lost crew members at our last island. We can replace them now, but what if a bigger group stays behind at the next place we stop? What if someone else can buy Ryusui’s attention? How many people will stay behind with him?”
Senku’s attention swings to where Gen stands in the entrance to his lab. Taiju and Yuzuriha shift on their feet, but no one argues with him. Because damn him, he really is right. “That was a quick lunch.”
“Ukyo has a small appetite.” Gen shifts, his eyes narrowing briefly before he turns. “Think about what I’m saying Senku dear and you’ll know I’m right.”
***
Senku can't help but notice Ukyo's growing crush on Gen. The thought sets him on edge and nothing is helped by Gen's insistence that Senku needs to do something to solidify the loose alliances they're all relying on. When Ukyo volunteers to help Gen with his part in the plan, Senku scrambles to make sense of his feelings.

All of humanity is on his shoulders and he’s still chasing the moon. It almost feels childish except all of the excitement and whimsy has been replaced with pressure and fear.
But now–despite not being sure how he got here–Gen’s mouth tastes like tea and the slightest bit of sugar and the salty, briny soup they’d eaten earlier. Everything is soft. His hands, his lips, his chest; the noises he makes when Senku leans closer, eager to be pressed against him.
He tastes like rest. Like the future when everything is finished and the world is back how it’s supposed to be and the two of them are hiding somewhere where no one is ever going to ask them to do the impossible again. No. Gen tastes exactly like that. Like the impossible, tomorrow. The impossible, today.
