Godric did not mean to do it, but ever so slowly, Godric pressed his palm to Jason’s jaw, running his cold thumb along the blood-hot line of the human’s cheek. “Believe me, Mr. Stackhouse. I understand. For what little my opinion is worth, I am proud of you.”
Jason’s half smile was charming. He said, “It weren’t nothing” again, but the rush of blood beneath his skin said Godric’s compliment had landed.

Summary

Quite basically, this is an AU wherein both Sookie and Jason have clear manifestations of their fairy blood. AKA, Jason can read minds, but not quite as easily as Sookie does. And because of this, when Eric is interested in Sookie, Bill redirects his attention to the other mind reader that he knows... And Eric's interests are certainly redirected indeed.
