Summary
“How exciting!” Effie says into the microphone as she adjusts her wig, making it even more off-kilter. “But there’s more to come! Now, let’s find out who our boy tribute will be!”
She goes to the giant glass ball which holds thousands of boys’ names written on strips of paper. She reaches for one, then, giving the nearest camera a smirk as though she’s doing something naughty, changes her mind and grabs a different one instead. She rushes back to the microphone and makes the announcement.
“Gale Hawthorne!”
My body reacts before my mind can process what I’ve heard. I lunge, my limbs moving in sporadic, irrational ways, as though if I just move fast enough, I can make her take back the words she’s said. If I can make Effie trinket and that slip in her hand go away, then it won’t be real.

Thirty… that was years away.
“But it’s just a load of bollocks mate, we don’t know what type of potion we actually made here. Chances are we didn’t even make it right - we just need to forget about it.”
Theo gave him a look, but then decided that his friend was probably right.
