Sonic was doing just fine! Sure, he was a werebeast, and sure there was a pretty bad stigma surrounding his kind, but he has it down! No one remembers the Werehog Aspect of the Dark Gaia Incident except for Chip, who was currently trapped underground, so it's all fine.
Sticks had been setting traps, and Rouge was maybe a little suspicious, but really, he had it under-wraps!
Of course someone had to call Animal Control. Of course it had to fall apart.

Summary
The gang is finally reunited, bringing Sonic a sense of inner peace. Sonic is overjoyed to see his friends and is overwhelmed with emotion, shedding tears of happiness. Amy comforts him with a tight hug, and Sonic feels at home with his buddies. He excitedly tells them about the cool people he met during his adventures, and they have a long and memorable picnic together. As the evening approaches, Sonic bids farewell to his friends, who shower him with hugs and tears. Sonic heads back to his shack to prepare for a surprise sleepover with Shadow.

Tails put his hands behind his back and batted his lashes as he stared up at Sonic. The other jutted his hip out and placed his hand on it. Shadow and Rouge stood behind the blue hedgehog, one staring in annoyance, the other with a taunting smile.
"Have I ever told you that you're the best dad ever?" He put on a cheeky smile as Sonic deadpanned with a quirked brow.
"No, in fact, you haven't." The blue hedgehog's lips quirked up in a smirk, and Tails knew he almost had him. All he had to do was convince the other of his devious plans. "But go on, I'm listening."
"So you'll let me get those fireworks and renounce my grounding?"
Sonic smiled wider, "No."
