Summary
You can not sell another person's soul.
That just isn't how it works.
If it were so easy, human beings could sell the souls of their enemies, or of acquaintances they care little about, or...
Well, they would even be able to sell the souls of their children, without the child's consent.
But that isn't how it works.
So, Iruma is faced with his own sale and forced to utter his acceptance out loud. He was perfectly groomed to do so, after all. And his parents had said it. The magic word.
Please.
Only... now that he's seeing the contract...
Aren't there a few loopholes he could exploit here?
(There's a rule against who can sell whose soul, but there technically isn't a rule stating how many demons you can sell your soul to.)

Divergence Notes: Summoning Sullivan goes differently as Iruma is required to be present. Iruma takes advantages of loopholes to ask for time and summons Balam for protection. No language barriers outside of culture. When school starts Sullivan tries to reclaim Iruma, everyone comes to an unsteady arrangement where Iruma still lives with Balam while Sully tries to win him over to be his grandson. Azz's opening arc expanded. Clara's also but without Azz until the end. -

Iruma is human. This means a lot of things for him, being the odd one out amongst the demons around him. He doesn't have horns, fangs, or a tail- but it's easy enough to dodge questions about those. Maybe it's unusual to be missing all three, but there's a large variety amongst demons. What's harder to explain away is his lack of wings, which he had been doing so well at hiding...
Except- humans are mythical creatures, to demons; so when Iruma's missing wing roots are discovered, that's not the first thing on anyone's mind. There is, in fact, a reason that a demon might be missing their wings. A horrible, horrible reason.
Never before had Iruma been grateful to have his scars.

***BOOKMARKER'S NOTES***:
-Ch.1 Extended Balam POV starting just before Iruma joined the class, leading up to wingless discovery. Iruma has many scars on his back, mentally notes he has them ALL over, and many INDIRECTLY his parents fault. After Iruma leaves with Balam, Marbas notes that not all his scars seem to be from torture and he probably has more. Demons have their own take on psychology, especially for pre-Bablys ready children. Kalego thoroughly reflects on the flying race and while some of what happened could be accounted to luck, he notes Iruma's resourcefulness and skill, thinking he'll be fine in the long run. After Iruma admits to Balam he is human tries to explain how he still got hurt dispite the 'safety' of the human world, and Balam impresses that some of his wounds are human inflicted, therefore torture.End of Terminus Exams (Iruma tells Balam)
