The thing is, Aiden weakly justifies to himself after, the fights are nothing new, he’s always been one to handle the monsters that no one else favours. It’s as if it’s always okay when Aiden is getting hurt for a cause, never when he’s trying to defend himself.

"I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but vanity is in pretty short supply these days." Aiden shrugged, wincing at the pull in his shoulders that followed the motion. Man, he must’ve been sitting still for too long if the soreness was starting to creep in. "I don't even know when I last saw a mirror that wasn't shattered. It's a bit hard to look at myself in those."
Lawan twirled a strand of dyed hair very pointedly after his first statement, but the lock of hair fell from her fingers after the second. "Wait. You haven't seen yourself?"
It's been three weeks since Aiden lost what precious little family he had left, and boy, he looks like he's been awake for every day of them. Not that he'd know. Thank God he's got friends to tell him, "Hey, numbnuts, you should know what you look like." and shuffle him in front of a mirror.
