“You’re hurting me,” whined Aurelian. “Merlin, please let go! I swear I’m not gonna run. I can’t even go anywhere because I’m—”
Merlin paid no attention to his words and threw him roughly inside the Physician’s chambers. Gaius watched with mild interest from his work bench and frowned when he saw the boy. “Who the fuck are you?” asked Merlin, picking up a broom from the floor and twirling it in his hands expertly.
Aurelian sighed. It was like nobody actually paid attention to his words. “Prince Aurelian of Camelot,” he repeated duly. Gaius’ interest was further piqued as he put down his books and turned to the commotion.
“Impossible. Are you a sorcerer out to kill Arthur?” asked Merlin harshly. No point beating around the bush. To his shock, the boy snorted. “What is it?”
“That’s right, Merlin,” he said in a tone awfully similar to Arthur’s. “I absolutely travelled back in time just to do my own father in.” He laughed as Merlin’s jaw dropped open.
Or Arthur's (alleged) son travels back from the future and of course Merlin has to somehow send him back without causing massive panic. This is far easier said than done in his humble opinion.

Leon pursed his lips. “Well, how long will you be willing to offer your services?” he asked.
“You seriously can’t be considering it,” Percival said incredulously.
“Why not?” Merlin argued. “I’m happy to be Leon’s temporary servant. Although,” he turned to him, “just pretend it’s a permanent thing to Arthur.”

“Merlin has magic…”
Three words uttered by Uther Pendragon’s spirit sets off a chain of events that will dramatically alter the lives of not only Merlin and Arthur, but everyone around them. Before Arthur can fully come to terms with his friend’s betrayal Merlin is captured by a vengeful Morgana who knows he is Emrys. Somehow the thought of Merlin not being by his side had never crossed Arthur's mind. Not since the idiot peasant boy walked into his life more than three years ago. He couldn’t remember his life before Merlin. He didn’t want to know a world without Merlin’s goofy grin, his big ears, and those damned laughing eyes that saw right into the prince’s soul, opened him up like a book, and changed the whole story around to his liking. Ygraine’s blood is taken downstairs. She doesn’t want Arthur to see her bare arm. It’s too intimate.
It doesn’t matter what the result of the test is, she knows she doesn’t know him.
Her mum opens the envelope for her when it comes because she can’t bear to do it herself. Mum and Ector sit on the one side of the purple table in Ygraine’s grey little, sad little flat and read while she buries herself in her arms and dread on the other side.
Mum puts the letter down on the table.No one speaks until Ygraine cannot stifle her sobs any longer.
She never asked for a son.
(King Arthur returns in the modern era. Soon after, Ygraine's not-quite-ex husband announces that he is the guy's father and he is willing to take a blood test to prove it. When the test comes back positive, Ygraine is forced to make space in her life for a son she can't remember and never actually wanted to have.)
