Twelve year old Percy Jackson has had enough. Evading his school's bullies and teachers, running for his life from gunned men (get this- one of them is a pirate), Grover-his best friend- acting shifty and drowning under his stepfather's A+ parenting. Now there is mystery around his mother's death, his biological family hates him (father figures and Percy DO NOT mix) and shadowed men dog his footsteps- he wishes he knew how to breathe and not get beaten or killed for it for once.

The therapy, the attempts to manage his PTSD, it’s not really working, and this is the case in point. What on Earth was he thinking, fleeing to Alaska? As if the lack of gods here would make Percy safe to be in a ten-mile radius of anytime he has a panic attack. His issues might stem from the world of the gods, but being in their realm, not being in their realm, it doesn’t matter. The damage was done long ago. He’s the problem now. He’s the danger.
