He knew it. It would be hard to miss, with all the chanting around him, the whole procession, and also the fact that he was locked up in a cage of carefully tailored wood, runes engraved on each bar.
Jason was a native of Gotham. He knew about the sacrifices to the forest god every twenty years. He knew they chose a child, often an orphan, to be abandoned in the god’s temple. He knew these children were never seen again."
OR: Jason is the new sacrifice for the forest god, and things don't turn out as expected.

"Jason snarled his teeth at his brother. Nightwing, damn him, simply smiled more, his hands still on his hips, expression deeply amused despite the groans of pain behind him.
Jason really wished he hadn’t been the one to be tied up to this altar. He immediately shoved the thought away, because he really didn’t want any of his siblings in his position anyway. Damn. Who authorized him to have these feelings?
“So,” started Dick. Jason immediately cut him off.
“Don’t.”"

"Dick rolled his eyes. Again. He should have told Bruce he didn’t want any younger siblings, but it was a little too late now.
He passed the hallway to really enter the living room; the penthouse was big and bright, with more room than needed for two teenagers. Especially considering that Dick lived more at the Tower than here. Bruce had bought the penthouse when he moved to Jump City so he would have somewhere to live in; it was the official housing of Richard Grayson-Wayne, but not where Dick actually lived."
OR: It's family weekend, and Jason is reluctant to come back to Gotham. Dick will hear none of it.

"Dick looked at his little brother as he played with his action figurines. They were alone in the living room, and Dick was supposed to be the responsible one - he would make sure that nothing was about to happen to Jason. He even stopped what he was doing - he had to be ready for anything, and he already knew that something was coming. For now, though, everything was alright - no problem in sight, and no adults claiming that they were trying to help. So, everything was good; but Dick knew it wouldn’t be for forever."
