His ghost lingers, though, so at least they have that. Even if he isn't anything like the boy before him.
Technoblade finds a letter buried deep within his bookshelf one day, written in the very same handwriting of the ghost that often lingers within his home. He shouldn't read it.
He does so anyway.

Tommy has always been the fighter.
He has never been the fought for, and he knows it, with every whisper Tubbo directs at Ranboo, with every glance thrown his way- Tommy knows, the way he wishes he didn't, that they think he's dead.
If they're so convinced he's still dead, maybe the one good thing left he can do for them is die.

Or, Tommy gets addicted to being dead and thinks that nobody cares about him. The people who very much do try to pull him back from the brink before Dream can't resurrect him anymore.

Phil doesn’t cry.
But as he stands before Tommy, his shoulders shaking, and his eyes shining in the moonlight, he’s about as close as he gets to it. Tommy reaches up to grab his hand with his smaller ones. He hadn’t meant to make him sad.
He just wanted to tell him how much he missed his dad!
How he didn’t mind dying if it meant Phil would be his family again.
“You’re not supposed to be this…this small. Is this how bad we failed you?” It’s barely said over a whisper. Tommy has to strain his ears to even make out the words.
“I promise Tommy,” Phil says his eyes growing a fire in them. “We’re going to make this right. We’ll make it go away.”
And under the snowfall of the arctic winds. Tommy can’t help but believe him.

Mourning and Grieving.
That’s what everyone around the Syndicate for the past months has been since Ranboo’s death.
Tubbo alway has a distant glassy look in his eyes as a hyper pessimistic ghost follows him around, Technoblade & Philza have thrown themselves into working on finding a good way to negotiate with Dream, and both Niki & Wilbur have seemingly distanced themselves from everyone. It was pitiful and heartbreaking for Tommy to look at them when he stayed over. So he decided to do something about it, something very extreme.
