Shadow knows he’s not that politically nuanced about the Mobian culture and how their values conform to their secondary gender and all that shtick, but he’s also: not a fucking fool, for starters.
“Come on, big guyyyy. I’m sorry.” The blue hedgehog looks up to him, pouting. His scent is so sweet that it’s assaulting his nose. Too sweet that it’s uncanny. “I promise I’ll make it up to you.”
Because no matter how much this newly hired staff is attempting to butter everyone up by playing dress-up with that stupid frilly strawberry-pink apron of his – Shadow knows better.
That’s an alpha pretending to be an omega.
Sonic is your typical average alpha trying to get by and lands a job as a prison cook. Chaos ensues.

Summary
Sonic shuts up. For a second. Then – “You know, this whole time I’ve been calling you the other hedgehog in my head, but a name would be nice. I gave you mine, twice, so it’s only fair.”
“Fair,” the other hedgehog repeats. Sonic follows her up the creaking steps of the house. It’s brighter as they go up, nothing like the dimness of the barely used living room and kitchen on the first floor. Less dust. Maybe she wants Sonic to look at the pipes of some bathroom up here first? Sonic opens her mouth to ask, because might as well since the other hedgehog doesn’t seem keen on giving a name, when the other hedgehog does speak up. “It’s Shadow. My name is Shadow.”
“Shadow,” Sonic says back. What a cool name.
(In hopes of earning some summer cash, Sonic responds to a classifieds ad about fixing pipes, plowing fields, and sowing seeds for an older anonymous omega. It did not mean what she thought it meant.)

Summary
They fly to the ground, Sonic landing right on top of the alpha. He scrambles to get off of Shadow as the dark hedgehog groans. “What the hell…?” He turns over and his face scrunches in anger when he sees Sonic. “Sonic!” He grabs Sonic by the bandana and yanks him close to his face to get a look at him. Sonic yelps and tugs at Shadow’s wrist, trying to get his bandana back against his gland, but—it’s too late.
Shadow’s brows shift from knitted in anger to knitted in confusion. He breathes deeply, scenting the air. His eyes widened as he looked Sonic up and down. “Woah… You really are a faker.”
