Summary
When Euijoo agrees to babysit his neighbors’ twins overnight, he expects spilled snacks, bedtime stories, and a quiet house.
What he doesn’t expect is Nicholas Wang—jet-lagged, newly relocated, and standing in the living room at three in the morning—staring back at him like fate has terrible timing.
Between school pickups, labeled meals, and two kids who adore their sitter, something gentle begins to grow in the in-between moments.
Some connections arrive loudly.
Others begin with a sleepy greeting and a soft, unexpected nǐ hǎo.

”Do you want to have a drink with me?”
There are a million reasons why Euijoo should say no. He hasn’t seen Nicholas in eight years. Who knows how much they both have changed? Euijoo certainly isn’t the same eighteen-year-old who left Japan, and he doesn’t know who Nicholas is anymore. This could end so poorly. It’s only in recent years that he has managed to lacquer his broken edges back together again, and yet here he is, going willingly into the waiting arms of the person who shattered him.
“Sure. One drink,” he agrees.
euijoo and nicholas broke up eight years ago. on new year’s eve in their hometown, they reconnect.

“I think the kids might be a little… you know… scared of him.”
Fuma raised an eyebrow. “Which ones?”
Euijoo froze. “...I’m sorry?”
“Which kids do you think are scared of Nicholas? Did any of them mention something to you?”
“It’s not that they mentioned anything per se.”
“Are any of them acting differently around him?”
“Well… no.”
Fuma blinked a few times, waiting for Euijoo to elaborate or offer up some sort of actual explanation then. He didn’t – just stood there with his arms crossed too tightly across his chest to be casual, one of his hike-worn sneakers thumping an offbeat rhythm against the wooden floor.
Fuma’s eyebrows pulled together slowly. “Then I don’t follow.”
“Fine, it’s me, okay? He scares me.”
