Charlie has a secret. A lot of secrets, actually, but there's one big one that nobody knows, nor does anybody even suspect.
Charlie's a girl. Deep down inside, she knows it, and it's not just when she takes a shit either, although that did seem to work as a cover that time when Dee mentioned the pink shoes in the midst of a bathroom debate. She always has been, and really by now, she could've done something about it. She could've done something publicly, done anything at all.
But she hasn't, for one simple reason. She's not just always been a girl — she's always been in love with Mac, too. Ever since they met when they were kids, she'd doodle stick drawings of them holding hands in the margin of notebooks, she'd go to him whenever things were bad at home, she even got him to help her when puberty started. Mac's always been safe. The one she could spend her entire life with and be perfectly content. Mac, however, has always been transphobic. And now, he's not transphobic, but he is gay.
