Summary
Roger Sheridan is a tough-talking, hard-drinking LA private eye. He's a real son of a bitch. As a confirmed bachelor in law enforcement, he learned to get mean quick--whether he wanted to or not.
The year is 1955, 10 since he got home from war and 7 since he got kicked off the force. It's winter, and the rain just won't let up. He'd get bored if it weren't for the newest case to land in his lap: a slain patriarch, a fallen starlet, and their prodigal son, all woven together in an ever-growing web of Hollywood scandal, intrigue, and blackmail. It would be a welcome distraction if that prodigal son weren't so nice to look at.

For ancient history, we have ancient alphabets. For an enemy land, I think borders and alliegiances changed so often that no one is really sure who or what was the enemy. But we have scholars and correspondence and a slowly blooming romance which no one really saw coming.

Summary
