Izzy eyed Stede’s curls, and gave in to a whim that had been, frankly, plaguing him for a very long time.
“Ow!”
Stede’s yelp seemed to have several syllables, all sliding together like his books off the shelves in a storm. Edward set his cup back down in its saucer with a jittery clink that seemed to resonate in the small space of Stede’s captain’s quarters.
“Did you just pull my hair?” demanded Stede, and he spun around in his chair so hard that it scraped across the floor.
“You’re not fucking listening to me,” said Izzy. “What’s the point of having your big fucking ship if you’re not going to care about all the things that keep it running?”
