"Yeah, well, if she sees you holding me like this you're in just as much danger. She'll get the wrong impression."
"And what wrong impression is that?"
That you might not actually hate me? That this might be a case of mutual attraction? That my body will still function so I can have the sort of physical relationship that I'm really fucking wanting right now?
"Julien," Occtis says with quiet deadpan despite the cacophony in his head and the phantom thundering of his heart, "you have your hand around my neck and I'm completely naked. I'm pretty sure that's going to give anyone the wrong impression."

"This might be one of the very, very few times it would ever be advisable to give your name away to the fae, fox boy," Julien muses idly where they're collapsed around the campfire.
"Oh, not just to any passing faerie, of course," he hurries to add at Thaisha's smouldering rage. "No, no, that wouldn't do at all. What if you needed it back for something?"
"No," he continues, "you'd need to be sure to meet up regularly. Perhaps simply travel with them."
Lady Aranessa buries her head in her hands.Now. Occtis Tachonis isn't the best with people, but even he can tell something's off here.
Julien is... strangely insistent. Almost desperate. He's been twitchy all day, and particularly keen to stray from the paths. He's kept half an eye on Vaelus the entire time, and even now is quietly watching her. Or, more accurately, Occtis supposes, the entirety of her iron armour. All textbook signs of one of the more Unseelie faerie having foregone their instincts for just a little too long.

Summary
“Julien. Why should I change my name?”
Julien sighs again. The hand stills.
“Well, when I say I have personally rid the world of all Tachonis heirs, I want to be right.”
“My family disowned me,” Occtis replies. Flatly. His family killed him.
“You are still a Tachonis,” Julien retorts, just as matter-of-factly.
This time, Occtis is able to roll over, face to face with Julien. Of all the places he thought he’d end up when Thaisha Lloy had asked for his assistance in Venatus, lying in bed with the notoriously promiscuous Sir Julien Davinos was not one of them. The fact he is here out of choice, and because he wants to be, would have been so far out of believability to be laughable.
