Summary
This is what his life has come to. He’s being disrespected by a dumpster rat.
He wishes he had someone to blame his current situation on, someone to direct his anger at, but in all honesty, the shitshow that landed him here was nothing more than an unfortunate series of entirely incidental accidents.
He knocks his head back into the wall behind him and huffs. Next to him, the rat chitters (sounding sympathetic, though Soap is beginning to think he might be projecting… or just losing it).
Or: Soap loses comms on a mission and is presumed dead. Having been left behind, he has no choice but to make his own way back to base. He doesn't expect to have been missed quite so much.

Summary
“Ghost looked down at their linked hands again, Johnny was holding him tight like he was afraid of losing even more of him. Something’s wrong. Something’s missing. He felt like he was staring at a blank white page, trying desperately to see the indents from things that have been erased. If he ran his fingers over the page, he could feel the relief of the words. He knew something had once been there but he couldn’t for the life of him see it.”
OR
In which Ghost loses all memory of the last 3 years, including the memory of Soap and their uncertain and complicated relationship. It comes back in waves, and somehow remembering is worse. -
