About hellsing mini exchange round 4 (hellsing_mini_exchange_2026)
Navigation
Intro:
a low-pressure exchange between fans of the hellsing series, specifically fans of iscariot and millennium. this started years ago as an exchange between a small circle of derumaku fans and now we're ready to take it a bit bigger!
kinky and/or explicit requests are encouraged. any content is permitted as long as you respect the recipient's wishes and it is allowed on ao3. no kinkshaming or fancops allowed.
no hellsing organization characters allowed. walter is the sole exception because he is also in millennium. otherwise, all characters must be from iscariot or millennium. due to the origins of this exchange the focus will likely be on iscariot, but requests with millennium characters are more than welcome!
moderator is miscellanium (discord and dreamwidth, fediverse handle is [email protected])

FAQ:
Q: since this is on ao3, do i have to write for my assignment?
A: no, you can draw! you'll have to host the image elsewhere with a stable link (e.g. imgur, not discord) and embed it in the body of the ao3 work but you are encouraged to use whichever medium you prefer.Q: are original characters permitted?
A: yes, but you will be expected to provide references and you must also provide at least one canon/canon ship when signing up to ensure matches.Q: do i have to provide prompts? wouldn't just picking a character/ship be enough?
A: the person assigned to your request will need an idea of where to start. your prompts do not need to be entire paragraphs; as little as one or two words in conjunction with a character or ship can suffice, if you're comfortable giving the person a lot of leeway with how they interpret the suggestion(s).Q: is it ok to ask for/create (whatever content)?
A: literally anything is fine as long as you're honoring the assignment and not somehow violating your recipient's stated dislikes/DNW list or ao3's terms of service. tag it accordingly, that's all. consider giving a range of requests and making a range of offers so it will be easier to match you regardless of how "extreme" some of your requests/offers might be.Q: can we get extensions?
A: this exchange allows a full month for completion and the minimums are low, so the hope is that nobody will need extensions or to drop out. that said, life just gets in the way sometimes, of course, so please talk to the mod if necessary. granting brief extensions would be preferable over needing to assign pinch hitters, but please be honest with yourself about whether you'll be able to complete the assignment.Q: when do i need to notify a mod that i'm dropping out/defaulting?
A: you should have a sense of whether you'll be able to finish on time by may 17, halfway through the creation period. if an extension is not practical, you should contact a mod ASAP and/or select the "default" button for your assignment.Q: when can i post my work to the collection?
A: whenever it's finished! but works will not be revealed until the beginning of june, so your recipient will not see it until then.Q: can i post my work anywhere besides ao3?
A: sure, but it has to be posted here first to fulfill the match-ups. please wait until works are revealed to share yours elsewhere.Q: may i remain anonymous even after authors are revealed?
A: please check with the mod first. this may be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Rules:
* NEW FOR 2026! no hellsing organization characters allowed. walter is the sole exception because he is also in millennium. otherwise, all characters must be from iscariot or millennium.
* written works should be a minimum of 1k. you can choose to write more, of course, but there is no expectation for you to do so.
* visual art should meet the creator's own standards of "does this feel like an acceptable gift". it does not need to be portfolio-ready! that said, please do not draw on lined/gridded paper because that may make it harder for your recipient to see your work clearly.
* please pay attention to any specific dislikes your recipient lists. it is the responsibility of all recipients to address any hard squicks/limits in your sign-up; if the gift you receive includes something you do not like but you did not indicate that particular dislike in your sign-up, then that will be on you and you need to be polite about it. find a different aspect of the gift to enjoy!
* related to the above - PUT HARD SQUICKS/LIMITS IN YOUR REQUEST DESCRIPTION. you can elaborate with a link if you want but the most important ones should be in the body of the request so they are immediately obvious to the mod and participants. the mod will not enforce ones not listed in your request.
* when making offers you should indicate which ships you're willing to work with, whether platonic or not. if you're okay with platonic but not romantic for a specific relationship, make that clear so you are not paired with someone who will only do romantic content.
* if pinch-hits are needed: the minimum for written work will be 500 words, to compensate for the lost time. the minimum expectation for visual art will remain the same, with the understanding that the artist did not have as much time to work on the piece.
