Hesitantly, Katsuki glanced at the door out of the corner of his eye. Relief washed over him when he found only his carpet. No white envelope, no note, nothing.
Katsuki wasn’t sure his pieced together heart could handle another betrayal like that. He wasn’t sure he could do it without pulling down this building brick by fucking brick. Not on his fucking birthday again. This day had become a nightmare, a warning sign that promised him only a car alarm heart and wailing sirens he’d have to watch silently in the distance. So finding his room just as it was the night before let a wave of relief crash over him and gave him the strength to make it to his feet.
