Percy never quite articulated why he didn't like to be called Perseus, as a child. He just did. He wasn't like the Maximilians or the Alexanders, who could shorten their names to Max or Alex. Percy was almost as long as Perseus. And it wasn't quite so long as for merely writing it to eat into the precious little time he was allowed on those timed math tests every elementary school seemed to love.
But nonetheless, Percy felt better than Perseus, and without an easy reason, he never explained it to anyone, not even himself. It weighed less than Perseus, so he was Percy, not Perseus. It took a long time before it occurred to him that weighed less and weightless were two very different things.

Summary
When Percy and Annabeth walk into Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium, Grover isn't with them. That means Grover doesn't have a bad feeling about this, and so Percy doesn't lie. It turns out that makes all the difference.
So maybe monsters aren't so bad. Maybe they're just hungry, and stuck in a system that's determined to starve them out. Maybe Percy gets along with them better than he thought. But Kronos is still rising from Tartarus, seeking to become the king of the Pantheon once again. Every Greek, whether monster, mortal, or deity, is preparing for war. But the Titans and the Gods both have awful kings, so how can Percy possibly pick a side?

Percy has finally settled on a career path: he'll be an oceanic vigilante! (Fine, environmental influencer, whatever.) To succeed, he's going to have to seek out the attention he's been avoiding for so long. But interacting with the mortal world has risks: he doesn't dare expose the godly world to mortals, not everyone wants him to succeed, and a scandal or an ill-timed explosion at a national monument could ruin everything. But no matter what happens, he is certain to disrupt the social media ecosystem!

On a good day, 25% of capes in an Endbringer attack die. The latest was not a good day. Before Leviathan hit, there were over 100 capes alive in Brockton Bay.
Now there are 13.
