    Once again you both made me laugh at a number of points (both with dialogue and physical humor) and also put me on an emotional rollercoaster.

    I see what you did there with the "always a bigger fish" reference.

    Is master-at-arms Dirge related to Durge by any chance?

    It's a bit brutal she'd just spaces ~40 pirates in a go and didn't even consider that body count, however that was a brilliant move and obviously saved both hers and Surot's life.

    Ahs also seems to be collecting injuries not just kyber crystals.

    Their chemistry with Surot is already great with the non-existent trust and the enemy-of-my-enemy situation.
    V6 sounds like it might also be a war criminal like Chopper and i'm all for it.

    Did they find those laxatives or those crystals are still doing their rounds in Ash? 😅

      I mean, the escape pod got swallowed by Surot’s light freighter which in turn got beamed in by the pirates’ bulk freighter, I couldn’t resist reaching for that particular Phantom Menace scene. :D

      You’re right about the pirates, that was cold. Desperate gambit, and she didn’t get out without a cost, either.

      Ah, Dirge/Durge — good call, however, that was unintentional on my part. I left his species vague (same as the pirate captain), partly because they were meant to be just character sketches, partly because whatever the reader’s imagination fills in will be scarier than what I could have written. So your mind goes to Gen’Dai, noted. ;)
      Dirge was named after his gonna-be-part-of-your-funeral-ritual vibe.

      This first arc is going to be a bit of bouncing off walls for Ashkhen, until she gets a better feeling for how things work in the Outer Rim. What happened to the crystals? Come back for the next chapter and find out! :D
