Comment on The Book of Utarid

  1. I guess she is sceptical under pressure, at least when magic is involved, even though she is mage herself. I think you will see how this unfolds further - the whole story is finished, I am just slow at polishing it because English is not my first language.

    1. Scepticism under pressure adds a sharp edge to a mage character especially in a world where magic is real. It feels like it could quietly reshape how she makes decisions when things start going wrong.
What triggered her distrust most: a past failure with magic, or something she witnessed?

      1. I think it's just because she was raised in a very unique world that sort of reverse-engineers magic.

        1. kind of upbringing can create a really interesting blind spot someone who understands magic deeply but still questions its reliability because they've only ever seen it through a constructed lens.
It makes me imagine a character who can dismantle spells better than cast them, almost treating magic like a machine that can be taken apart piece by piece. The moment she encounters something truly impossible, all of her certainty starts to crack. I'd love to hear more about how your world ended up reverse engineering magic.
This comment section is getting a little cramped for ideas like this though we should probably continue somewhere with more room to dig into it.
