These are so amazing and the description here is so well-written. I love the sorting of search results by word count, I love the opting out options. I think this will solve a lot of the concerns that were brought up in the tags post. I also love the ability to search for one, the other or both people. That really cuts down on the number of searches I used to do under the old system (I'd have multiple tabs open). Thank you!

Also! While playing around and looking at my search results, I also only just realized that you guys are automatically tagging anything based on Thor/Iron Man/Captain America/Avengers as "Marvel Avengers Movieverse" even if the author didn't use that fandom tag. Once you know that, searching and filtering becomes a lot easier, as well as more comprehensive. I also realized that typing in "Crossover Pairing" gives search results for anything tagged "Crossover Pairing" or "Crossover Pairings", which is awesome (I used to be scared that I had to do multiple searches for each tag). Now I'm wondering what other umbrella tagging secrets I don't know...

      Hi!

Thank you for your kind words about the new search features, and we're glad to know this post helps you!

I wanted to address your second point regarding Marvel Avengers Movies Universe. We're not actually re-tagging the works - we do not do that, as per the ToS. Instead, we have the five movie tags (and one short clip - I love fandom!) set up as subtags of the MAMU metatag. This means that if you search for the movie, you just get the movie, but if you search for the metatag, you'll get all of the movies. You can read more on tags and metatags in the FAQ.

Previously, the Advanced Works Search wasn't canny enough to see if the search term you entered had subtags - one of the goals of the new search engine to get that working. The same thing is happening for the Crossover hierarchy! And if you're ever curious about a tag's associations, you can select the tag name on the search page where it lists "1 of X works in Tag_Name" and it will show you the wrangled links for that tag!

      Best,
      Sam J.
