Comment on Searching and browsing on the AO3

  1. Is there any way to search by page number? The Sentinel fandom has more than 400 pages of stories with many stories per page. I'd like to be able to search, for example, for Page 298 just to see which stories are on that page.

    1. Hi, storyfan!

While there's no way to jump to a given page using the navigation buttons, you can do so by editing the URL manually, like this:

      1) Go to the "The Sentinel" tag works page (http://archiveofourown.org/tags/The%20Sentinel/works)

      2) Choose one of the page buttons other than page 1 (for example, http://archiveofourown.org/tags/The%20Sentinel/works?page=2)

      3) In the address bar of your browser, edit the URL to replace the "2" with the number of the page you want, "298"

      4) Hit return to navigate to that page (http://archiveofourown.org/tags/The%20Sentinel/works?page=298)

One thing to note is that if you're using the default sort order (Date Updated), the works on a given page will change as new works are posted. If you'd like to avoid that, you can reverse the sort order by entering

      sort:>updated

in the "Search within results" box and then choosing "Sort and Filter".
