I also wanted to mention that I truly appreciate the title of this story. It is so appropriate! Persephone, Greek goddess of Spring, kidnapped by Hades, ruler of the Underworld to be his bride. Her Mother Demeter searched for her and when she couldn't find her, created Winter in mourning, which didn't end until Zeus intervened. He sent Hermes to bring Persephone back but by then Hades had tricked her into eating six pomegranate seeds. Since she had eaten the food of the underworld she had to stay there for six months of the year. Only here there's no Demeter to search for McCoy or to leverage his escape from Hades. He's eaten the fruit (rensis leaf) and now he's trapped forever in that world. However I like to think that he'll bring a touch of spring, a touch of warmth and light and life to that dark world and to its ruler, Kirk. I think when he does, Kirk will do anything to protect and keep that warmth. But then I've always had a touch of the romantic in me. But I really, REALLY love how you've woven the original myth into this story. You did a fantastic job! Thank you for this!
Weirdly, the analogy only hit me after the fic was mainly written but it seemed to fit rather nicely and I do so hate coming up with titles normally. Admittedly, a Roman myth would have been infinitely more appropriate given mirrorverse backstory!
(Thank you also for taking the time to write this out - I will note up above you've done this in case others are interested and aren't familiar with the reference.)
