Can we expect an update soon? Of all my bookmarks yours is in my top 5 for the 'I can't wait for an update' category. If I may make a suggestion, seven kingsguard don't seem like enough to protect any king and his household so maybe a group of royal guards under the kingsguard that act like a generals bodyguard in the Total War games along with guarding him and his family and household and so on.
I think having a original character from a Targaryen loyalist house travel north to serve him would be an interesting and unique twist, one I've not seen before. Said character could become a kingsguard or an advisor or even a second wife if it's a woman.
Don't forget that they need people on the wall so going out of his way to limit casualties and capturing enemy soldiers to send north would add to the feeling of urgency we get as the reader in regards to preparing for the Night King's final big push against the wall. If the bloodraven is a good guy in this (can't remember if he is or isn't in your story or even mentioned) he could use the cave system that goes under the wall to send animals and people south through his greenseer powers.
