I can't kudos multiple times but I wish I could. Absolutely adored this, especially the part of just making all the Jedi Mandalorian. Two different cultures, two different lifestyles. Don't force one to be another. And Quinlan's line? Me at so many fix-it fics. ADORED THIS
Ikr? I love the Mandalorians but the fandom seems so intent on making it all about them that sometimes it feels like I might end up hating them. Nobody wants the Mandos to be Jedi - so why would the Jedi being Mando save the galaxy?? I'm not against it once in a while but it seems like an emerging trend and I do not vibe with it at all. (Also sure, let's have the diplomat space monks embrace the culture that glassed its own planet and *shattered* one of its moons through nuclear wars - that ought to fix it)
*raises hand sheepishly* I kind of want the Mandos to be Jedi. :D Or, at least, a bit more Jedi-like than dead-set against them. Also, because I was raised on Legends, so to speak, and possibly also because I'm not a Star Wars fan that hates Star Trek, so to speak, I kind of ignore the shattered planet that's somehow still habitable because what the heck??? But, yeah, exactly, that's not gonna fix anything except maybe an individual's problems. Fixing those is also okay, but don't pretend it's universal.
A fellow Trekkie Star Wars fan? Hi! (Well, I just dabble in Trek tbh.) As I said, it's mostly the prevalence of the trope rather than the trope itself. But I'm all for making some Mandos Jedi just to balance it out xD
The trouble is, as I see it, that people pick things up from fics, unquestioningly, and then repeat it and expand it and think it's canon when it's not. Sorry to bring up Jedi Apprentice stuff - never read it myself, but time and time again I come across the term "repudiation" in fics in connection to Xanatos and Feemor, and it's treated like it's a Thing in the Jedi Order, and yet... it's not a thing. Certainly not under that name.
