Thank you, mystery author, for writing me such a wonderful gift! It was just what I wanted! <3<3 Right from the tags I was predisposed to love it, and love it I did! I loved seeing Susan's and Peggy's relationship develop over time. "To Peggy, Susan’s perfect presentation was a mirror of her own over so many years of fighting for a seat at the table. She saw the defiant glint in her eyes, the determined set of her chin, and she knew that at minimum this woman was quite certain she was up to whatever SHIELD could throw at her." I love their first meeting, how Susan charms Peggy and how Peggy sees through her and I really like the parallels you draw between them, how similar they are, in both history and personality. Of course Susan worked at Bletchley, it makes so much sense, and that she'd move to SHIELD to get away from being a secretary, just like Peggy did.
"‘if she could punch as well as she could do everything else, we wouldn’t be sure she was human’" Hah! Love it!
"“They get younger every year.” Peggy remarked to Susan, ducking back down after taking a shot at one that had seemed a sweet and innocent child of maybe 14 until she’d pulled a gun and started shooting along with the other two, who had posed as her older sisters.
Susan laughed breathlessly and popped up to take another shot before responding. “Oh, this is nothing. I started when I was at least that young. My sister, Lucy, was seven.”" Love the familiarity of their interactions, how at ease they are in high stakes situations and how Susan slips up in the moment and tries to cover it up later when she's more aware of what she should and shouldn't say, and how Peggy doesn't buy it. And of course Peggy wants to investigate Susan's past - Peggy Carter has never seen a mystery she doesn't want to get her teeth into!
"In the end, that drink was put off for three frustrating weeks" I love this detail, and how you weave their work throughout the story.
And the Narnia reveal! Poor Peggy trying to cope with all this new information! But I really like that Peggy has some outlandish stories of her own to share, to balance it out. And them sharing experiences of sexism - yes, battles are ugly regardless of whether women fight! Well said!
And their flirting - poor Peggy bemused and uncomfortable, and Susan amused. And then Susan thinking Peggy's not interested, poor thing :,( But they work it out <3
"“Susan, I’m afraid you’re being called away again. But your lion has misjudged his timing a bit.”" Ha! I love how matter-of-fact Peggy is about it all! And Susan being excited and Peggy a little bit reluctant but willing to go with it - just lovely! And Susan's so well prepared for the adventure and camping - she's done it before! I love the idea of Susan travelling between worlds and helping those who need help.
"Susan, understanding her intentions as she always seemed to, closed the gap and kissed Peggy warmly, the two of them laying back in the grass to put their arms around each other as they did." I died! This was just so perfect, I love it! SO sweet, and romantic, and just perfect, the two of them kissing in a meadow in a fantasy world with Aslan's blessing! Just absolutely perfect! And the ending when they're so comfortable and open with each other, and Peggy gets to meet Susan's family! I really like the little mentions you threw in about them here and there even though they weren't in the story - I love all the Pevensies and their fond sibling relationships with each other, so I'm super glad that Susan still got to visit her siblings and that they were happy and safe, even if they weren't in our world. Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing such a lovely story for me!
