Ah, yeah, can't disagree there. Palpatine is the devil and about 90% of everything bad ever is his fault. That being said, I also went from Lucas' quotes explaining why Anakin's formative years made him unsuited for the Jedi life (which isn't bad in and of itself) and why him having been raised by his mom instead of in a community didn't teach him to love without attachments (which again, nbd unless you go on to become a Jedi Knight). So to me it's a mix of Palps' manipulation and Anakin' early childhood.
