Comment on Brockton's Celestial Forge

  1. I know that you don't want to do it, but for the sake of the story, you might want to consider putting Minor Blessing and Unnatural Skill as rollable perks on hold for a while. Those two perks have been consuming a lot of CP over the last several chapters, and a lot of people are looking forward to other perks that keep getting missed because Joe just doesn't have the CP when they get rolled, because those two perks are taking it all away.

I am very much here to see how Joe mixes in the various tech trees he gets to make something new, not read about how Joe got yet another Minor blessing and Unnatural skill when there is so many interesting perks still to be acquired, and I have a feeling quite a few of your readers feel the same way.

Gonna second this one, with a note that it feels weird that *anything* is available twice in the forge - Manufacturing Line included. Like, I get that it qualifies for both the time and the materials tree, but that's no reason it should get to be purchased twice. That feels more like a typo in the list of perks for the forge than anything else.

Meanwhile Minor Blessing has at least a dozen variants at minimum (one for each Olympian), and realistically more like 50+ when other Greek deities are counted in, with even more variants for Unnatural Skill. Putting perks that are available multiple times in some sort of cooldown when they show up might help? It's also weird that Minor Blessing has showed up several times, but the various 'pick a field of study, you're an expert now' perks from Star Trek and such haven't been

      1. The reason why is due to their respective trees, the knowledge constellation is the largest in the Forge, compared to the qualities smaller size,

The sudden increase in Unnatural skill, was a surprise even to Lord, its something he did not expect.

Also everyone has to remember that the BBCF it pretty much a trailrun that did very well, but it's still in testing,

Lord has stated that adding new rules is stressful and takes away from the joy of writing.

    2. I am trying to avoid changing the mechanics of power gain midway through the story. The frequency of repeating perks was something I didn’t see coming, but there isn’t much I can do about it without completely overhauling the system of point gain and perk roll. Additionally, I’ve been open about what different blessing will grant and possibilities for Unnatural Skills. While people aren’t prioritizing those perks there are some readers who are looking forward to seeing certain ones, particularly since Unnatural Skill: Singing (or Music) will probably be included in support of Elven Enchantment or Symphogear.

The best I can manage it capping the perk at the major Greek gods. That means that there will still be eight more possible rolls (Hermes, Ares, Dionysus, Apollo, Hades, Poseidon, Zeus, and Demeter), but it will at least be a finite list. It also means I can cap Unnatural Skills at eight more choices to make sure it doesn’t become Joe’s defining ability as the roll tables start to empty out.
