Good chapter. The exponential upgrade thing with Bandit Gunsmith and the Resource Constellation was a neat thing to see.
How did Joe make the canvas bag of holding? The text implies it was primarily his demigod abilities, but I don't recall those having anything to do with Spatial manipulation.
Doesn't bandit gunsmith specify broken equipment? I don't think projections can be broken, unless the upgrade feature doesn't require broken equipment and I just misread something.
It's nice to see Danny again. If Joe was in a position to do so, would he help out the dockworkers? Yeet the boat graveyard out of existence, some master-craft tools and machines?
How is Tattletale reacting to the costumes, does she know what Regent and Aperion spoke of, and precisely how salty is she that she wasn't involved in the acquisition process?
Demigods of Hephaestus can make a lot more than just weapons and armor, with collapsible items or things that are bigger on the inside (Hephaestus’s Cabin, Leo’s Toolbelt) being well within their abilities. Joe is finally starting to flex his demigod abilities to do more than just facilitate work on other projects.
Projections can absolutely be broken or otherwise damaged. The problem is them staying manifested after they are damaged. Joe’s projections are a lot more solid than typical ones due to his material knowledge and need to map internal components. As such they can be broken without instantly vanishing.
As a side note, Bandit Gunsmith doesn’t require broken equipment. The options are either 5 broken items to make one working item of the same type, or 15 working items to make 1 improved item of a similar category. Joe’s resource perks take that down to 1 in each case, with the broken option also allowing him to trigger Shipping the Product for a x5 modifier.
If Joe was completely free to act he could do a lot more than just clear the boat graveyard. He is inclined to help the city, but the form that help takes will depend on the state of the city when he’s free to act and the abilities he has at that time. Joe is currently at a point where clearing some ships is a project he wouldn’t even waste time on. It could be farmed out to third rate drones built in a fraction of a second and piloted by Fleet through the entire project.
Tattletale is repressing a lot of her natural instincts to show off and insult people because her power is also telling her that Joe would have none of it. It’s probably not good for the integrity of her stomach lining, but it’s a situation she has to deal with. Joe basically saying “I’m making you new costumes” didn’t leave much room to quibble about design features or personal taste, particularly not after the ‘bulletproof’ and ‘self-repairing’ thing came out. She probably will know that Alec spoke to Joe, and can guess the topic but not the specific details. Lisa is in a situation where she can’t know everything and can’t control a large portion of what she knows about. It’s a pretty hellish experience for her, even if things have improved slightly from when March was running around.
