And yeah, Grace's acts are very much human, but also nuanced. One of the really interesting takes I saw was that Grace, as a former microbiologist, was more suited to looking at things at a smaller scale while Stratt, a former history major, looks at the bigger picture. Grace's actions are debatable in very morally ambiguous ways, and if anything it definitely serves to make him feel more like a person and less like a Mary Sue. Also, Eridian thoughts on amnesia are definitely something that would creep Rocky out to say the least.
About that promise angst, definitely an interesting thought. It'd hit a little less hard for humans since they literally don't live over a full Eridian promise, but I can see potential there.
