I've not seen Chrome on PC converting quotes to smart quotes, but I do know one of our front end coders has been having a grand old time with Chrome on Mac.
As we've noted above, we are planning to eventually add HTML5 support. I will note your appreciation of the idea to the feedback! If you have any other thoughts, let us know.
Aaaaah!!! The last time I tried to do any embedding only Opera worked WRT the smart-quotes issue, so when I had an issue this time I went to Opera to mess with the code. (must have been an unrelated issue)
But I just gave it another try in Chrome, and IT'S WORKING! YESSS! So nice not to have to switch browsers whenever I want to code any players (or change the text in a chapter without fixing *every* quote in the embed code :P).
So glad you posted this comment - I might not have realized this for months :D
Very much looking forward to HTML5 support!! Flash players mean everyone on an iDevice can't stream audio (I have put links to the MP3 next to every embedded player so the iDevice peeps have an option). Someday the internets will have all this standardized, eh? :D
