Comment on Quote the Three-Eyed Raven "Nevermore"

  1. Yeah, personally I find Littlefinger to be out of place, he's among the small group of characters like Gregor Clegane and Ramsay Bolton who are just blatant villains, in a series where most characters exist in a more grey area. Most of House Lannister you can understand their actions from their point of view. Jamie was protecting himself and Cersei when he pushed Bran from the tower, Cersei was protecting herself and her children when she arrested Ned and had his household slaughtered, and Tywin was protecting his entire family when he arranged the Red Wedding. Horrible events, but justifiable from a certain point of view.

Nothing Littlefinger does has a justification, he is the token schemer who exists to literally sowing the seeds of chaos for chaos's sake, even when an existential threat like the Others presents itself, he is still scheming. Likewise Gregor and Ramsay are basic monster's in the skin of men type characters.

Even Lysa fits in this category of archetype villain characters as she is a very one dimensional, though she is given a bit more depth into why she is the way that she is, in all she is a very typical 90s interpretation of mentally distraught woman. The first books were written in the 90s, and mental illness was viewed and represented in media much differently than it is today.

Did not mean to go into this rant, but here we are. Thanks for the comments.
