I tend to prefer being able to custom crop my own thumbnails (I use gallery on my own site, which has this functionality) versus sites like Y! or dA which display a thumbnail of the full image. Mostly I like this for browsing when a gallery contains both explicitly violent or sexual images. Ideally, as both an artist and a viewer, I'd love to have an option toggle on the viewer end to show custom thumbnails or full thumbnails.
Tags can probably serve as art-specific metadata for things like media.
Am also hoping to see some sort of creative commons or copyleft options for fanworks as a whole.
