Combining WS with LoK was an inspired move, I'm glad you've made and I loved how it blossomed into your original story. Kinda like Aliens, isn't it? A remake of a film as LoK plus an original sequel.
I'm so glad to have found this story (not only because it brought me to you but because it is a treat on its own). Yes, you can see how you improved when one compares Book 1 to Book 3. The writing of Book 3 is... wow.
Getting to know your thought processes was great, I always enjoy such insight into any author's mind (reading Sanderson's 'Warbreaker' with author's commentary... mmm...). And now I can safely say that I understand what you've mentioned once how season 4 should have had parallel arcs for Asami and Korra instead of just keeping them away from each other.
THAT SAID...
I think Book 2 of Uncivil Wars will still be my favourite. It just had more characters (great interactions with Suyin and Lin), wonderful action scenes (the highway) and, most importantly, more scenes of Korra interacting with Asami and you write these two so well. Also, Zaheer just seemed a bit of a more credible threat, I know Kuvira had her army and carriers, but it was a bit hard to treat her as such a big deal when she got her ass kicked by Korra in Book 1... twice? Thrice? So while the quality of the writing of Book 3 was just wow, I think my heart still lies with Book 2.

How do you feel after finishing this masterpiece? - It is strange. After I got the rough draft of chapter 21 done (the climax, which was the last one I was working on), I actually cried. And I have felt very weird about it - it is a weird feeling to say good-bye to them.
But it has also been good, because without them either dominating my thoughts or being ever-present in the background, I have been able to easily jump into other things. I've written a couple of more chapters of Mad Max, plus that opening to Aliens II (plus a bit more). Plus do some outlining for other things.

YES!!!! Because they did, in a lot of ways, it was just that Asami's arc had no screen time - I... don't actually agree with that completely, but it's a topic for a longer discussion. While I don't think you're wrong, I think Asami's arc got so little screen time that one has to fill a lot of holes with headcanon so I could make a case that Asami's and Korra's arc were almost totally opposite to one another.
