thank you for commenting, i’m so so glad you enjoyed this!! and yeah. i really wanted to avoid the typical ‘remorseless predator’ archetype for john that i sometimes see because i honestly think it’d be so much more complex than that for him. this man is constantly at war with himself and i think a part of dean will forever search for a way to lessen the burden of that guilt. but GOD john is pathetic too. i’m really glad that translated across.
and yeah lol. sam totally heard it. in retrospect i think he’s way too volatile and raring for a fight at this age to *not* acknowledge it (very loudly, very confrontationally, likely very ill-timed) but i like the mystery here
