Summary
John Allerdyce gets evicted from his own life on the same afternoon he inherits a bowling alley. One phone call from his best friend about the death of his estranged great-uncle later, and he's on a plane to San Francisco with a duffel bag that's embarrassingly light and no idea what "owner" is supposed to feel like. Rainbow Lanes has regulars who loved the man John barely knew, a manager who doesn't hand out second chances, and enough deferred maintenance to hum like a warning. This is what happens when John's handed a life and has to decide, slowly, if he'll let it be his.

Summary
A year after inheriting Rainbow Lanes, John Allerdyce has gotten good at showing up. He's learned the building, the people in it, the specific way San Francisco's development pressure makes itself known. He's learned Bobby — the real version, the one who doesn't perform for audiences. He's even, cautiously, begun to believe he belongs here.
Then Remy comes in from next door with a problem that turns into a bowl-a-thon, and John starts to understand that staying isn't something you fall into. It's a decision you make. Over and over. In front of people who are watching.
