Then, he's awake.
Curt is there at an instant, hand pressed against Owen's chest as if to remind them both of the heartbeat underneath.
"Bad dream?" He frowns, knowing, and Owen doesn't need to reply.
He doesn't have the energy to.
"I fell, again," Owen says simply, and Curt can only nod.
He doesn't say Curt pushed him.
He doesn't say Curt was there at all.
He never tells that particular detail.
Owen's nightmares cause him enough pain for the both of them, and Owen, at least, is more than used to it.
For as long as he's known Curt, for as long as he's woken in the middle of the night with a start, Owen's known all too well that he is going to die, and Curt is going to be the one that gets him killed.
Or, Owen's relationship with death is a strange one.
