Their conversation was slanted, not uncomfortable, but just awkward from the points where Jon had to stop speaking and focus back on ensuring he didn’t nick himself. He started and stopped sentences often enough that Daisy had taken it as a sign to simply take over the conversation herself, mentioning anything and everything she could think of from the Archers’ latest arc to the fact that Basira had been in a heated argument with the local library due to losing her latest checked out book on her last travels. Mundane, normal things for the archives.
Of course, that was when it hit.
Jon had been in the midst of a comment, contrarian by nature despite it being something he whole-heartedly agreed with his friend on, when he stopped speaking. He wasn’t stopped to focus on his shaving, and Daisy noted that he was swaying in place, the grip on his razor loose. His eyes were unfocused, and he began to mumble under his breath. Daisy could faintly hear his words, repeating, slurred things that made little sense to her.
“Jon?” She tried, lifting herself off the plastic cabinet to approach her friend. “You good?”
